ANY kind of jet fuel smells bad when you are burning it in a diesel. Unless you cut it with a little WVO from the local Chinese place !!!! I find that 5 gallons of WVO to 25 gallons of JET A will keep your nose hairs from burning out.
For the OP wanting to transport a MK48, that's the...
It's much easier to search a PDF. Sometimes finding what you are looking for is easier with a word search. I have done it more than once.
Print the pages and take them to the truck while you work on it. After you are finished and they are covered with dirt and grease, throw them away.
You say you checked and the air cylinder shifts; can you hear the piston move when you move the shifter from neutral to reverse? There is a audible "clunk" when going into reverse.
+2 on check the TM.
renovate7,
I keep a copy of the statute that says I don't have to display a tag in the glove compartment with the tag and registration also. Anything that supports your position if there are grey areas should be carried with you.
Just make sure you don't read between the lines too much...
You will get 3 different answers. You should take Ruppster's advice, copy the statute that states the personal use exemption, make notes of people you talk to and keep them with you.
If you can get it tagged as a RV, all the licensing problems go away. Several years ago I read on an RV...
Welcome from Florida.
Let the electric pump run for a few seconds before you crank it. If it sits for a few weeks you can push the accelerator down a little while you crank to make it start easier. Let off the accelerator when it starts so you don't rev the engine before the oil pressure comes...
If you are going to drive the truck you could mix it. If it just sits and you need to move it around once in a while, I would dump a few gallons of diesel in. You don't want to turn it into something that you have to push.
Keep in mind the compression ratio is not as high in the Cummins as...
Sometimes the transfer shifter hits the passenger seat frame going into high. If the interference is too much it won't go into high. You can adjust the shifter down as long as it doesn't hit the floor in low.
See if one of our members can get it off base for you and store it. They may also be able to look it over and tell you what the truck needs. Don't have it towed to a shop unless you are darn sure of their honesty (recommended by someone you trust).
Depending on what you find out, you will...
Sounds like you are un-sure about a lot of things on this truck.
I would find someone close enough to tow-bar it out for me. It's great to be able to fix it and move it on your own but, you are out in BFE with no facilities and are putting in a lot effort with little to show for it.
Brake cleaner gets the GL white grease pencil off. Don't use a red shop rag. It takes more scrubbing with a white towel and brake cleaner to get the red off.
I think the light is what turns on the alternator regulator. Has the gen 2 light been coming on in the past when you turn the key to "ON" before starting? If it's burned out the regulator won't turn on.
I don't see any problem if the people following you back off a little.... Plus my wife likes to see it "roll coal".
An EGT is best to figure out how much to turn up the fuel, or turn down in your case.
I'll either be convoying up Wedensday or will already be up there. The wife has vacation plans for September that may roll into October. We may make the rally our last vacation stop like last year.
You can print the firearms declaration forms out and fill them out ahead of time. Just don't sign them until you get to the border crossing. Also note the list of forbidden guns before you go. Most of the military type rifles and hand guns with less than a 6" barrel are not permitted. You can...
