Engine Oil used in TH400 instead of Dexron

I'll see how it drives. If I decide to change it, I won't be wasting 10 gallons of Dexron to flush it. I'll get out whatever pumps out and fill it up from there. In 6 months I'll do it again and call it good.

Engine Oil used in TH400 instead of Dexron

It's nice and clean and looks like 15W40. It feels and smells like engine oil; it's not burnt. I could be wrong, but I remember Dexron as being more or less red. Haven't run it yet, I need to replace batteries. I'll find out if it works next week.

Engine Oil used in TH400 instead of Dexron

Has anybody found engine oil used in the TH400 transmission of their CUCV instead of Dexron? I know they use engine oil in some of the big truck automatics but I didn't expect to find it in a CUCV.

Alternator Case Burning hot?! Need help

It sounds like the alternator is going full field. It would have a high current output unless there is an internal problem. If you have a clamp on amp meter, put it on the heavy output wire and see how many amps are being drawn. You can use an in-line amp meter if you don't have a clamp type...

Just when you thought GL couldn't suck any worse

I got my paid in full invoice last week and the contact number has a 602 area code (AZ). I figure it's the generic GL number. I get on chat with Heidi (she gets around) and she confirms the number. It seems that the GL reps have cell phones with AZ area codes. Go figure....:? About this...

    Deuce road tractor conversion

The Teflon plate goes on the trailer. There's a hole in the middle the king pin goes through and the retaining ring holds the plate to the king pin. If you are going to couple and un-couple a lot you can put counter sunk screws around the edge of the disc and fasten it to the trailer to keep...

    Deuce road tractor conversion

The Teflon plates are the way to go; no mess. They are about $20 at Weldon truck parts. Make sure you get the retaining ring with it. In a pinch you can use a poly mud flap. When are you taking it for a test drive with the trailer? We need to take pictures and video of the maiden voyage.

    Appels bobbed 923a2 truck build.

Looks good but it's got the "motor boat" look. Is the rear really a lot lower than the front, or is it an optical illusion?

Chinese Dong Feng HMMWV's from Hong Kong Open House

There is no such thing as "intellectual property" in Chi-Com land. I can tell you from experience, if one company has it, they ALL do. If a company is making something for your company, they are selling out the back door to your competitor; off of your tooling. And if they are copying your...
