First Convoy 2013
Had the chance to do a little touring on the way back to the shop after our meeting. After some convoy protocol discussion the ol' deuce chased the newer deuce down the freeway to a friends house.
The M135 attracted a crowd again and I thought of you guys when another...
Meetings
Our first dry Saturday meeting for 2013' finally brought out some toys . One of the boys just added lockout hubs, SuperDave arrived in style and Goose the Deuce just keeps going and going.
This beautiful 48' Willys showed up and has some fine potential to be green.
We can't forget how the 211 must feel sitting in a safe yard with the sprinkler going, dogs and kids joyfully runnin' round , the chef flippin' meat on the barbee, the smell of the occasional Yuma hardwood fire in the pit, stale pizza boxes and cigarette butt filled beer cans.
She's gonna miss...

The first time I heard my engine fan in the M1010 I thought I ran over a freight train. Had the stereo down or the wind was blowing the right direction but I thought I was doing it backing off on the gas until the hmmmms turned to aaaa ha. Just the fan kicking in. When I let off the throttle to...
F104
The doors and landing gear were tied up so the boys added temporary rigs to relieve the pressure, cut out the retainer ropes and released the rigging. The gear went down slowly then a 200lb gorilla bounced himself against the gear until it locked in.
The front gear had some pieces removed...
Lowering the Landing Gear on an F104
Thanks to CombatMech for the heads up on the deadly hazards associated with this process, an Air Frame Mechanic and a few engineers, the F104 is back on the ground.
How to prep for paint
Do you drink?
When I do my next one I'm going to do it on the one night a year I get loaded, sand one square foot at a time and enjoy it. Use a sealed mug and wear a mask, taking breaks often.

A big bang is always better than a loud clunk. I was real excited for a minute....... you drove it, now I'm kinda bummed, she broke.
If loud clunk meant your linkage pins came loose and the shift rod fell against the frame, you're in good shape. Check all your linkages, u-joints, propellers and...
