Great thread, just when I need it, but NOT ENOUGH PICTURES..
Driver side is the first I will tackle to check the breaks, no evidence of leaking seals. Will also replace the socks with zipped ones.
A few questions, because I am in the Czech Republic, and no US truck part suppliers near me...
Fellow European Steel Soldiers.
Please, if you are mentioned on this member list, also make a comment on the salvage yards and parts suppliers thread. I feel lonely there and its empty with ONLY Dutch suppliers until now. No providers in Germany?
This way we know where to get parts or...
Our M51 A2 from 1965 (overhauled 1973) is a Dump Truck W/W; Garwood 20 000 lbs. Unfortunately, the winch assembly was partly broken and without cable.
Some questions therefore.
Above is how I bought it in 2010, with details of where some kind of guiding system - rollers were broken off...
Dutch M51-52 combo runs again
This time I will jump in early as well; starting to work on the truck again too.
My M51 A2 W/W also usable as an M52 A2 W/W.
Thanks for the comments, which will bump the thread, but we need replies from the other European members with additional suppliers in Germany, Austria, Denmark, France, Belgium etc etc.
Do you have some pics of the latest 5-ton version in action? Would love to get one, but shipping to the Czech Republic would be killing. Besides, we start work on the drums this week. However, the truck is now at the blacksmith forge workshop of my son, so we should be able to copy some of your...
Seeing how much responsive members we now have in Europe, I started a thread on European parts and salvage yards providers. Please mention your supplier there as well, so we can help each other with finding parts and keeping the hobby blooming in Europe.
Other thing: anybody member of a...
Netherlands - Staman Jeeps and some tracks
Staman, Nijverdal . Middle eastern part of the Netherlands, close to Almelo.
"The World's biggest supplier of army jeep parts". Has also several other things standing around including tanks, half-tracks and other drooling stuff. They used to have a...
Netherlands - Commerce Trucks - DAF, Mann, Mercedes trucks
Commerce Trucks. Nieuwediep, the Netherlands. In the middle of nowhere in the north-east of the Netherlands.
They specialize in mainly Dutch and German military surplus trucks: DAF, MAN, Mercedes, Hanomag, Magirus. Large collection...
Netherlands - Reomie US 2 1/2 and 5 ton trucks
Reomie. Located in Ooij, near Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
They used to have hundreds of trucks but they are winding down. Friendly people, but sending outside the Netherlands by mail is a problem for military material.

Time to try again to make a list of European salvage yards and part suppliers now we have such an extensive European Member list.
Please, this is a thread to help European and other SteelSoldier members to get parts or complete trucks inside Europe.
Please:
- add a new post with clear...
Finally some time to canvas.
Hopefully we will now manage to complete the restoration: back in my son's workshop area
Two oldies still going strong. A 54 year old 5-ton Dump truck weighing 10 000 kg and a more than a century old steam hammer weighing in at 20 metric tonnes with a 750...
Reading Texandy's remarks and my own words, I remembered that I posted on another thread about this as well. Then I found back Gimpyrobb's sticky about this on the Deuce, and decided to update that thread with my experience.
The short of it: an engine stop lever stuck in out, which kept the...
Update for a 5-ton no-start multi fuel. Posted on that here.
Thanks to some remarks by Texandy and speeding up my own brains, I found back this and other threads on the topic. Best to put my experience and pics here as well.
The cover with the engine stop lever on the right. It had been in the...
My M51A2 multi fuel has been stationary quite long, awaiting repairs but moved a few times to make place for repairs on the workshop itself. Last time it was moved to a nearby field without problem. Now, 6 months later, the workshop is ready but I cannot get the truck started. Normally, even in...
Would be very interesting for us to see that equipment. We are operating a blacksmith workshop that originally was of a farrier who also made the steel rims for around the wooden wagon wheels. We sometimes do demonstrations of shoeing.
Also, in our WW1 project, we came across mobile...
