    PTO description for dump truck

Any details on that PTO coupler you had in mind? I tried to google but did not find something usefull, more a lot fo forum and other talks too much to go through. As gimpyrobb said, unhooking the pump (my initiall idea) seems a lot of work each time. Alternative might be an electric pump...

    dump truck with fifth wheel?

Thanks. I was worried it would be metal and the parts rusted together. Hope it comes off in one piece and can be re-used. Iff all goes as planned, the dump unit will get off on Monday.

    dump truck with fifth wheel?

There is a line of material about a cm thick between the main frame and the dump sub-frame. I thought it was metal, but today I took of a piece sticking out and found that it is wood?? It that normal?

    PTO description for dump truck

Just spent a nice half hour under the truck, half sitting and laying, just looking. Quite relaxing . The hydraulic pump actually sticks out under the main chassis, so I have to lift the dump bed much higher then expected. Disconnecting the controls is no problem. Slipping the spined...

    air connection

I am replacing the old junk gladhands on my truck. Right rear side has the red emergency gladhand, rather rusty. On the left rear side, the line coming out of the chassis has been plugged, nothing left there. Please tell me, which size and thread speed does the gladhand has, and the other line...

    I'm just curious...

I always had a thing about trucks. Never liked small or super fast cars. Took my professional drivers license while studying and made some money to get some needed extra $$. Always kept thinking about it now and then, wouldn't it be nice to... A good friend of me is now 75 and still three...

    Lubrication order M51A2: oil types

OK, back in the Netherlands and started to do something. For the engine, I just bought a straight simple 15W-40. Spent the whole tuesday driving and thinking 5-ton tricks and treats. After going crazy about all tranmission oil threads, especially about Dana - Spicer not liking GL5 oils, I...

    differences between M51A2 and M817

    That's good to know.

Installing a main switch with key

or at least knows how to put in the right terms ;). I never would have tought to inlcude ignition as term. But as another member already mentioned earlier, if everybody would use the search function to good effect, a lot less traffic and fun would go on at this forum.. ok ok ok, don't...

    differences between M51A2 and M817

 eee, right, wheelbase length does not automatically mean same chassis length.

    differences between M51A2 and M817

The operator manuals say that both are possible in the 176 inch wheelbase for the dump trucks

Separate section for upcoming European Events

Exactly. That way all European members can be easily kept informed, find dates of events back, and meet with each other and infect new members. And not to forget, drive a lot to go to the meets:driver: If we use it also to post on the events after they happened, the US members can also...

    differences between M51A2 and M817

Do they have the same chassis? Checking the manual, I found a few differences. The 817 is about 2000 lbs heavier, does that all comes down to the heavier engine? The 817 does not differentiate between off-road and highway, restricting everything to a 10,000 lbs max load, whereas the M51A2 has...

Installing a main switch with key

My 1973 M51A2 5-ton has no ignition key or any other key braking the electrical circuit, only the standard switch. That means when I am out, anybody can easy come in and play with the switches. Or I can forget to switch something off. Or something can get loose and drain the batteries while I am...

Separate section for upcoming European Events

Sooo much new posts that this one is lost already on next page of new treads. Thought I bumped it up the list again, before all US addicts wake up, so the European members see it on top (for a short time at least).

Separate section for upcoming European Events

Maybe not that interesting for the majority of the members, but it would be usefull to have a separate section on European actions. Now, I mostly read about it on SS after the event. The problem is, it is hard to keep check of all different MV clubs and their events in the different countries in...

    1963 404 Unimog, Should i keep it?

Maybe this is a nice link to have a look. It's in German, but you'll get the guest of it. The first half of the page is about wrecking the clutch during a friendly meet. Then getting the truck home and then replacing the clutch. Sounds like a nice easy job for an empty summer afternoon or so ;-)

    German site for parts

Maybe usefull against robbers as well? Jurgen attended me to this site, came across this rocket launcher (and several other trucks and trailers and parts).

    Youngest Deuce owner

You must have pretty good and smooth power steering, she does not seem to have any problem turning that steering wheel around. :not worthy: I can't manage that so easy (yet) on my 5 ton.

    wieght of dump unit

Maybe it's in the operating instructions, like with the M39s, that's where I got the info. I am designing and chosing material for the support legs for the dump unit, don't want to make them too light.
