I think you covered a lot of primary bases @ once. Nice machine work on your engine kill locking setup, by the way. Keep us informed as to your improvements & other ideas!
TM's say to never park the truck in gear, due to a startup condition happening if the truck get bumped. With your engine...
Welcome on your new to you truck! She looks great & you look very happy. Keep up the faith & drive her on a regular basis! That smile won't go away for a very long time, if ever!
$3600.00... they go for $12,500.00 here from private sales or around $7000.00 out of the auctions in poor shape. You scored big time in my book! [thumbzup]
Rory, now you have a Deuce & a 5 ton; plus others fun stuff. You got bit by the Green Iron Disease bad didn't you. Congratulations on the new truck & successful recovery to home.
Let's see, your missing Knob Creek & the Georgia Rally to go to South America, got to be job related. Post up some...
Welcome to the Green Iron Disease club first of all as you have been here a while, but just now posted your first post. Way to go for your first truck & recovery trip. Good save on the headlights to get you home. Post more pictures when you get time of the truck, but the ones you did post are...
After you posted that you found a CD behind the landing leg foot, I went home & looked behind the first trailer I bought in Atlanta, landing leg foot & there was a CD-rom in a white plastic bubble pack. It is titled TM 9-2330-392-14&P / TO 36A11-5-252-1. Thanks for the tip!
They are very nice trailers if you don't mind the height. Three of them were recovered this past summer out of Georgia by me for an average price of $500.00 each out the door except for the green one with bows & cover. They are as new & barely used if @ all, but you do have to watch for tight...
And I thought the oil dripping on the inside of the right front tire was a problem. Your neighbor can't see that Deuce of yours coming down the street? Must be a cell phone involved on the neighbors part.
You seem to have had happen, what we Deuce drivers fear, a complete brake system failure...
My tank screen was so nasty, that fuel would not go thru it. My first attempt to fuel was almost a spill @ the pump. I had to remove it, to get any fuel into the truck to bring her home. To remove that gunk, I soaked it in a bucket of acetone for a couple of hours & washed the screen clean with...
Thanks to all for their input to this thread. My Deuce just flipped over to 10K miles & while inspecting the running gear, noticed that gear oil is starting to leak out of the right front axle onto the tire. Now I have a pictorial as to how to, what is needed & folks experiance on their repairs...
I have a spare primary filter in the glove box & NAPA is open till noon, so it is the dreaded filter change play again! Only 200 miles on the new filters, too! The primary will be changed first & then a test run, before changing the other two! Thanks!
I drain the primary filter @ least once a week just to check that the pump is flowing correctly. Also the two large filters up on the firewall are checked for fuel flow & quality. The flow thru all check points is adaquate. I guess that I need to pull the primary filter & see if it is plugged...
I checked my tank yesterday & vacuumed the bottom of the tank with a siphon hose & a 5 gallon bucket. The red stuff is all gone & the only thing left on the clean bottom is a small amount of rust chunks that wouldn't fill the bottom of a small drinking cup & no water. That said, the engine is...
Welcome to the Green Iron Laughing Academy from Gainesville, Florida. The Deuces are getting harder to find & the 5 tons are still out there in numbers coming out of the military inventory. That said, a M923A2 would be a nice BIG start in the hobby, everything is big with that truck. Good luck &...
That just does not look right! The M1102 looks like a little toy compared to the LMTV trailer. The F-450... will pull it, but it still looks out of kilter!
The WRAFB '87 Deuce I got in May has a problem with the red stuff on the walls of the tank that seems to be dissolving into the new fuel. The bottom of the tank was clean in May, but the new fuel & cleaners are removing the red stuff back into solution!. The water seperator filter was bypassed...
