Driving it home was my plan & it worked due to a truck with no problems & it being checked out before the trip. If you do the drive trip home, have a chase vehicle & let the guys here know what your route & time frame is; they can help you with most any problems & rescue you if Murphy catches up...
I have seen anchors & bows for sale, but no actual covers anywhere. That is probably a factor why the Atlanta M1102 trailer w/ bows & cargo covers prices were so high this past week!
Sixteen @ one pop...you guys are in it for the haul on these trailers. Recovered one @ time, that's my style, but you had to make @ least 4 trips with your buds to get them all home. Good luck on your project.
Did you have any problems with axle heat on your recoveries? My one from Ft Stewart...
Thanks Gimpy for looking out for Rory as he gets settled in. If you have another spare data plate for the M105, mine is missing the plate on the left hand side (drivers) of the tongue. The SS member that I got it from passed away earlier this summer & didn't get the plate or a bill of sale for...
Welcome aboard & your posting skills are good to go for your first post. Are your landing legs in the bed of the trailer, since they are not stowed above the tongue of the trailer? That trailer came from Ft Stewart, Ga a few weeks ago didn't it. You can tell from the algae growing in the bed...
Wow Rory, you pulled a M105A2 with your Escape. That thing weighs 2750 lbs empty with nothing attached & yours had the bows & canvas with it. You are using up all your good luck @ a fast pace; hope you have lots more. I have pulled stock M1102's with my Toyota Tacoma, but they weigh only 1460...
I agree with rustystud, the phase converter will make your air needs come true without emptying your wallet. If you get more 3 phase equipment, you will have to upgrade or increase your phase converters output to meet the demands. When using a phase converter, you will have power losses across...
That was my problem when I bought my Deuce that came from Warner Robins AFB; they cut the data plate so as to remove the registration/VIN numbers before sending it to DRMO as they do all their Deuces to demill them. I did as you did & acquired a NOS replacement plate (W/W) to repair the defaced...
Pardon my intrusion, but there is no such thing as 2 phase power. Its either single phase or three phase in delta or wye configuration. I may offer that you are using single phase 220v to run your 5 hp motor, but not 2 phase! I work in an industrial chemical plant where we use electric motors to...
Is all the equipment 3 phase or single phase power requirements? Your starter controls suggest 3 phase! That would make a big difference if you had no access to 3 phase power where you are going to use them. That aside, it looks like a really good score from GL!
Well written tongue in cheek piece about US supplied vehicles to the Iraqi Army. We still should have brought back the equipment or destroyed it in place rather than leave it intact overseas. It is coming back to haunt us!
If you are going to pick up an item from the auctions, go to the contractors entrance; not the main entrance. There, they will search your person & your truck(closely) for any contraband that you will find listed on their website(i.e. what not to take on a military base). If you clear that, then...
I have two of those that have had the freon removed & replaced in one unit. They are 3 phase on all components, so your military genset is a must. Good luck with getting them to cool well in your plans. My genset would never even spin over the fans, muchless the compressors, probably the fault...
I was refering to a trailer that shut down the sales for a while in the early months of this year till DOD got it all sorted out. It got DRMOed without proper paperwork & the actual caliber of the mortar system escapes me @ the moment, it could have been an 81 mm, but I really don't remember...
What a collection of military related stuff & trucks, but Utah is along way from Florida. That would be a day trip just to look thru all the green iron!
First of all, welcome to the Green Iron Disease! The free truck is as about cheap as you can get one, now comes the money & work part. Good luck getting her started & running & don't forget the pics.
