Yeah I forgot about the front axle. That does complicate things. You could just do away with the front wheel drive. I kinda doubt you'd really need it, but that is usually when you need it( when you don't think you do).
So with the slightly higher gear ratio and the larger tires, coupled with the 400 cummins, that should be a pretty viable combination without a running gear swap right? Just need to figure out driveshaft adaptation.
If you really want a whistler turbo I might trade you as well. Are you coming to the east Texas micro rally/ swap meet on the 30th? I do have a whistler.
If you bought it without title you can just forget ever registering it legally. If the original owner never even applied for sf97 then that is doubly so. Yes the turbos are different part numbers.
And no, they don't issue titles, they issue a CERTIFICATE to title, and you have to apply with that.
I bet it would be easiest to just do a frame stretch on the 920 and then put some of the parts on it like the knuckle boom and some of the storage boxes and such. Or lift the whole wrecker bed off the frame it comes on and set it onto a stretched 920 frame.
Yeah, M44 is what I originally meant. M48 is not as rare. I would gladly tardy you a late model dual circuit brake Air Force truck with dropside bed to save that one, but we are kinda far apart distance wise.
On the other hand, you didn't give much of a description, so it may just be a normal M35a2 that some department painted red and put a water tank on. Seen plenty of them. Cut a few up too.
If it is a real M44 fire truck.... Someone would undoubtedly hunt you down and shoot you if you put a cutting tool to it.
Edit: They are...QUITE... Rare.
