M4A3 Sherman Tank from the Movie "TANK"! FOR SALE

That is one of my favorite movies. If my winning numbers come up, I'll take you all for rides. :-) I love most movies with an "underdog shows them up" theme, and also have a thing for cheesy cult classics. Jim

    Engine block cracked

Just FYI, the blocks I've welded have been IN vehicle, just heat the area well before to burn off any contaminants, grind, clean with Brake cleaner, then weld. Considering I didn't have any leak after, I wouldn't call them temporary repairs...and one was over 10" long, running from one freeze...

    USMC Unknown Vehicle

It looks semi-cool, but there are several things I would change on it, starting with eliminating a bunch of those tie-downs...do you really need 3 in a row on one fender??? Jim

dual 52" tires on a single axle deuce

I'm not trying to knock anything...it sounds like it will be fun to try. But I'll throw out my opinion based on experience. I've run in a good amount of mud and a lot of snow. One thing I've found is that duallies don't work well in either. You do gain rear flotation, but the rear is already...

    Kaiser jeep or Am General

How about a '62? Mine came without a data plate, and i want the correct info for when I order a plate...and to settle my curiosity. Jim

    Engine and trans swap done

This is what I had to work with when I did my Cummins 4bt swap in my Durango: http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd315/nhdiesel/Cummins%20Durango/P1010076.jpg This is what I came up with: http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd315/nhdiesel/Cummins%20Durango/P1010106.jpg Jim

    Engine and trans swap done

Sounds cool. I'll be watching your progress. The clearance is quite hard to tell in the pics, but it sounds like you have it well under control. Jim

    Engine and trans swap done

that exhaust location looks sketchy. I'm trying to figure out how you are going to make that shifter work...cut a hole in the pipe for it? I think maybe trying to put a Y split in there to split to each side of the shifter and down might work. Hard to tell in the pic, but trying to...

Easy junk tire removal from rusted rims

Up here it's between $3 and $5 to recycle tires, depending on size. Funny thing though, the recycling center then loads them into a trailer and GETS PAID AGAIN for the trailer load. Tax money at work right there. They actually make money getting rid of the tires, why not let people drop them...

    Hay Train

I love it! I have been trying to think of a way to make a trailer that was adaptable between a gooseneck and a pintle. One hint for someone else doing it- work out the brackets on the adapter so that it can also attach to the front of a Deuce or 5-ton...instant towbar if the trailer isn't being...

    Shipping recomendation

Good luck at that price...when I shipped a stripped Jeep tub from NH to Wis. it was $600, and that was less than 1/3 of the weight. Jim

M416 for BBQ trailer and some questions

I can't help you with the project, but it sounds cool. I am glad to see that you are using a trailer that isn't really suitable for restoration, because of the previous welding and repairs. Perfect trailer for a project. Jim

    Shipping recomendation

Dimensions? 1500 lbs. of solid iron can't be all that large, it should fit in the back of a pickup easy enough. How much shipping would you consider to be "reasonable"? Jim

    Engine block cracked

Having a varied background- years as a mechanic, college degree in auto tech, 10 years as a precision machinist, a bit of welding experience, and my whole life of doing booty-fab repairs to my own stuff, this is what I would do: Take a couple pics of exactly where the crack is and post them...

Nope, they are the same size. Here is a video explaining it and showing the inside of a torque converter. Jim

    A3 Tranny in an A2

There is heat created in the torque converter, which is why automatic transmissions need an external cooler. Most of the heat produced by an auto trans is from the torque converter. While there is heat created, there is still a "gear reduction" happening. It still acts like having a gear...

    A3 Tranny in an A2

O.K., think of it this way, for simplicity's sake. Think about a clutch that is able to slip at a consistent rate, enough to allow the engine to run at higher RPMs where it makes more power. just for the sake of argument, lets say that slippage is a 500 rpm increase in engine RPMs. So the engine...
