This is good advice on most all motors iv found , the Ford 7.3 was the same way , the last year they built it was the best year to have for just the reasons you mention . Now with the over the top emissions 07 and never , not so much the case .
I think the " reasonable price " part is going to be a probable . Paint has went nuts the last few years . Local auto parts wanted 256.00 a gallon for sherman williams paint .
Recaps got a bad rep years ago when caps would come off . Today that is pretty rare to have happen . My experience , as long as the casing you are having capped is in good shape a cap should be fine . The company doing the work will take a good look at the casing before capping it .
I have...
Iv played in the off road stuff for a long time , those MTZ tread do very well , the KM2 i seen mentioned i thought did very poor in snow . I watched other rigs with these on , i have not ran either tread my self . KM2 is allso a very soft compound and does not wear well , not sure on the MTZ...

Tire dont bounce at 30 but it does at 50 or 60 , blance issue . Im sure it comes into play on there motors as well . Rod strenght and design too . Several factors combined im sure...
Dissadvantage i see , no PS , big turn radius , cost of plow . your standard 7' or even 8 ' plow is to small , your duals will run in snow . 9 ' gets pretty pricey and your not going to find a used one to easy .
Long straight drive or private road im sure it would do great though .
Iv been itching for some snow around here to do just this . Thanks for the positive post on the deuce in snow . I modified my center rib and did some siping for snow on my tires .

Iv never seen diesel freeze , i assume you mean thickened or congelled . That dont hurt it any .
Product called heat prevents this issue or add kerosen will do the trick also . I dont bother until temps drop down to + 10 or lower , then even the so called treated fuel can be a problem .
Stop trying to " jack " the price of your truck up . You failed to mention the maintence records you got with it . 14 motors , 9 trasnmissions and what about the 12 crashes it had been in ?
BUSTED
Im a Sergeant Major < see under dragonwagon . Nice try " private "
Kasper i dont see why your rig wouldnt work just fine .
As far as digging out , seldom going to take more then a little jerk on a strap , its not like mud that sucks you in and holds you there .
My deuce seems to have a pretty good heater and i work out in the cold so im acclimated to it...
