Yeah man that should be obvious. We all know the screen is important. It is simply semantics here. On another note, I have many many 5 tons here that only have one fuel filter and no screen in the tanks here right now. Approximately 20 of them, and they are A2 models.
At what point do you need to parallel park a deuce on a farm? Lol... They are not that hard to handle to begin with if you aren't up in your years. I steer mine with one palm on the wheel around my fields.
Don't get me wrong Rusty, i would not do away with my in tank screen, but only catching large particles does not qualify it as a filter in my book. However minute it may be, there is a difference in a screen and a filter.
First of all, if you want it to be a good reliable work truck, leave it 6x6. And stay with the standard trans. Vintage doesnt matter much, as long as it is not a gasser. All of them can be made to be reliable if you have the time, skill, and money.

The vent line on the transmission is plugged. Dirt dobbers do this all the time. Transmissions will build internal pressure all on their own with no pressure input and puke out of the dipstick if the vent is plugged. No two ways about it, that is your problem.
I'm sure that zep cleaner would cut the fuel and stuff well too but I have no experience with it.
Crawdaddy, also note that if you want to you can load the tank up and bring it over here. We'll spend a full day on it and get it clean. I have a LOT of experience doing this.
You need to get 5 gallons of purple power or castr super clean and pour that in with some water. Let it sit overnight. The purple power has alkali in it which helps to clean off the rust and scale. Then drain and flush, and try to find some evapo-rust. It's about $20 a gallon, but that is the...
Oh no man, all five of the ones I had here were like that, as well as an Air Force drop side five ton that we cut up here a few weeks ago. They are attached with pieces of angle welded to the frame and bed between each bed floor crossmember.
What you heard was the circuit breaker in the switch trip. Next item should be the signal switch. If it still trips the breaker in the 3 lever then you have a short to ground in the left turn circuit.
