Looking at buying my first deuce is this a good deal?

Good deal, no - it's not. OK deal - probably. Sounds harsh, but here's why I say that, knowing nothing about the truck or you. You really need to go see the truck in person, and if at all possible get one of the more experienced Deuce guys from here who is in the area (or mebbe a Guard M35...

    New From NJ

MTA = Military Transport Assn. It's MTA that shows up with MVs in the Hawthorne parades and at the RR station for Toys For Tots. There happens to be a meeting tonight in Whippany, just off Rt 10. You should consider attending if you're free. PM me with a number and we can have a phone call to...

    New From NJ

I asked because you ought to consider bringing up a gen trailer to the Sussex show for display in April. We don't usually get those. No gate fee for exhibitors. You might also make some friends at an MTA meeting. There are several members who have a lot of background in maintenance and...

    M101/M116/CUCV Rim with 'Scalloped' Hub?

Thanks. Those are the responses I was looking for. I knew that the lugs would center the wheel but I was questioning centering on the hub itself. With this information, it won't be such a crap shoot pulling a tire to give it a try. Recovery4x4, what year/model Ford rims are you using...

    M101/M116/CUCV Rim with 'Scalloped' Hub?

I've been offered a rim/tire from a '98 Chevy 2500 series. It's 16" w/ 8 lugs on 6 1/2" centers but the hub is - for lack of a better word 'scalloped', not round. I'm going to try to mount it this weekend to see if it matches up. I thought I'd inquire here if anyone has run into one of these...

    New From NJ

Naw ... it isn't you - it's cold. I spent 7 1/2 hrs crawling around outside under my stuff this past weekend. You're the smart one. Welcome from an exit or 2 east on I-80. Steve

    newby from central pa

I'm reading between the lines above and am guessing that your new truck is jcappeljr's old truck. If so, thank you for ending the suffering of a couple of us up here in NJ who were drooling and conniving over how to get away with buying it. Best of luck owning it, and welcome to SS. Steve...

Red Ball Militaria and MV Parts Swap Meet - Jim Thorpe PA 3/1/14

Now JT, I know you like to eat the stuff on your birthday, but I'm having trouble picturing you and Maddawg chomping seegars in an ice cream parlor after the show: http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/the-insider/Yuenglings-ice-cream-is-back-in-stores.html Yup: Made in my in-law's original...

    Looking at a M37

I'm not putting myself out as an M37 wizard, but I've done a fair amount of comparison shopping. Doesn't matter where you drag it from. Condition is everything. If it really is complete & original, 24v, maybe needing batteries, tune-up kit, tires, new rack & bow wood, hoses, belts, and no rust...

Welcome from Metro-NJ. Being in Stroudsburg, you're close to the Red Ball club. They hold sort of the 1st show of the year in Jim Thorpe on 3/1 (http://redballonline.org/JimThorpeShow/2014JimThorpeInfo.htm), and also the more-or-less last one in Gilbert PA in Sept. It's a good place to go to...

    M116 Pickup/Hold New Castle DE Friday, 2/7/14

Weather has work schedules messed up and I might get called in over top of my p/u appointment. Trailer has a flat; I can pickup Saturday, 2/8 w/ replacement (hopefully in the area or north.) Would also appreciate reputable local flatbed tow referrals. Email or PM w/ phone and I'll call back...

    Cool Freightliner

"...will we see your A-frame on the M37??..." The '37 still isn't on the road, and I doubt I'll have the brakes and tuneup done by April. You've got the edge on your project 'cause I can't seem to find a wood stove that'll warm up the open parking lot where she's parked. I'd love to take her...

    Cool Freightliner

Very nice. I hope we'll see it in person in Sussex this year. Still like looking at those old ones, though. Steve
