    water in fuel

Got that "water in fuel" warning light on. Whats the going price on filters? Is it cost effective to install a spin on filter instead? If so, what about the sensor(s)? Lastly, I'd like to install pressure gauges, electric, one pre, and one post filter, to monitor filter condition. Any idea's?

    funky dimmer switch

I bypassed the blackout light switch. Now, and possibly before doing so, it sometimes fails to illuminate any headlights when I try to go from one beam, hi or low, to the other. Once in a while I'll only get one headlight to work instead of both. I'm thinking the dimmer switch might be going...

Up here in the east, that isn't rust, that's just "pre-rust".

    can't find manuals on site

I tried to find the wiring diagram. but the old site bounces me back here. Trying to find the hi and lo beam wires coming out of the column.

    bypass glowplugs.

If I want to be able to bypass the glowplugs, like to have the key on, truck not running, without the glowplugs cycling, would I extend the blue wire and put a switch in it?

    CDR Valves No Longer Available

I'll take two, er, three total. Hoping to have this cucv for a good long time. PM your info.

    3.5mA draw, 12volts

Will that amp draw run a battery down. I'm thinking not, that's likely just my radio's memory function, but seems worth asking. I bypassed the blackout light switches. Actually just the one with six prongs. I had to run two jumpers, one for all the regular lights, and one for the brake lights...

    Seriously, kerosene heater under hood?

Nah, ebay has two for about 15 bucks shipped. Found some online directions, looks like a pia, so looking into the radiant catalyst propane. I worry a bit about starting a generator on a cold night to be able to start my truck. I'm thinking low tech. A match light heater, a heavy canvas tarp...

    Seriously, kerosene heater under hood?

I see some old timers used kerosene heaters under their hoods on really cold nights. I'm thinking the same might a feasible answer to my problem, and one I can afford. If I insulate the engine compartment with that fiber, aluminum faced insulation, make a tarp type front bra, and keep the...

    good either injector.

HOw about a kerosene lamp inside a well insulated engine compartment?

    good either injector.

I don't have an extension cord that'll reach to where I work. I wonder how fast a deep cycle and inverter would drain on a block heater? I really don't want to be stranded, without anywhere warm to stay. It has to start. I was also considering a butane camp heater to place under the hood for an...

How good/bad these 10 bolt axles?

Should I be worrying about the 10 bolt axles in my 1009? Is it worthwhile to add a gov-lok to the front one? How good is the 208 transfer case? I do a few car hauler type tows a year, about three hours at a time.

    good either injector.

Looking for a good either injector, like they use on farm tractors, for cold starting. I will rig a manual glowplug warmer, and install this. The 1009 was balky today at 0 degrees, we see -40 at times. Also, the manual glow plug install sticky should be brought forward from the old site. Also...

help to lose the black outs.

That would be good. Will do. May also use such a relay to power my fuse box. Do you know the amp rating? Also, if the black out lights are already 12volt, why do I even need to remove them??? Me so stoopid sometimes. Gotta say, cruising in the 1009 is way cool! Having pleasant flashbacks...

Fuel heater? Sounds it ran off the exhaust manifold, except it's plastic.

    breaking starter bolts

I too could use such a OEM bracket, if anyone is in the giving mood.

help to lose the black outs.

I really don't care about re-using the switches, seams some of the hardcore restorers here could put them to better use. I eventually see myself going all twelve volt, with the possible exception of the starter. Though that under dash relay worries me. Seems there must be a better way than a...

    white line from fuel filter

Mine is broken and hanging. What is it, where does it go? Had the beast out today and ran it about 50 miles, used 3/8ths of a tank, is that normal?

help to lose the black outs.

I'm not sure about the lights them selves. I might put LEDS into them and use them as running lights. All depends on if I find anything else that'll fit the openings.
