Forgot to mention, moved the GEN light wires and 4WD wire to the water temp and seatbelt light circuits, by changing their position in the plug that goes into the circuit board. I used the original plastic that was over each by trimming them and taping them to the other half of the ones where I...
Spent the whole day trying to figure out why my light wiring isn't right, Turns out now the running and headlights quite also, and melted a fuse. The light switch went bad. Gonna be driving the Escort wagon to work.
On the plus side, the gauges work.
What type add on filters do you all like, for the transmission, fuel and power steering? My power steering may end up having to power my winch.
I did get four fuel filter off the evil-bay. Bought a couple oil filters. Looking into these other filters, as I want everything to last awhile.
Do...
I know my "water in fuel" light is always on dimly, even when drained recently, don't know why.
I opened my drain and nothing came out, water or fuel, must be plugged.
THANK YOU!!! Printed it. This should go into the stickies. Very helpful for relocating the warning lights. Also, one could go to an all hard wired dash if one had to, using the wired bulb sockets. Great help.
Got the gauges wired. After pulling the gauge cluster about 6 times, I decided to wire each gauge with a four prong trailer plug. Works slick and easy to take apart. Had lighting issues with the dash lights and a signal indicator. Turned out to be the fact that I cut off some of the circuit...
Anyone have or know of a diagram of the dash board printed circuit, and a list of what wire does what in the plug that plugs into it? The plug is numbered 1 through 18, so it seems there would be a listing of the function of each. I've printed all the wiring diagrams, but don't see any of this.
Advance auto. They have four leds, forming a square. They plug right into the original sockets. I also put one into each of the gauges, using old sockets that take the same type bulbs.
Got a water temp gauge in, placed an oil pressure gauge and two voltage gauges in the dash also, all where the dummy lights were. Put an oil temp gauge in place of the old voltage gauge. Had another temp gauge to place beside it, for the transmission, but it didn't work.
Figured out how to...
I've got one of those hydraulics also. I rigged mine for use on my compact tractor. Special valve to keep the pressure right, special valve to choose between the tractor or winch having hydraulic power. That winch skids trees just fine, and pulled me out of a few beaver ponds I was ripping...
Turns out it is both, the headlight connections and the dimmer switch. I found the plugs very loose on the bulbs, so bent the tabs to might them tighter. Also found the switch sometimes dosn't work right, so found the plug to it, unhooked it and am wiring it to a floor switch. I have rtv...
It passed. Whew. While up on the lift several mechanics commented on how new everything looked. No weak spots anywhere. Exhaust like new, u-joints and steering linkages like new. Brakes like new. New shocks. No leaks, and a spotless engine. Fuel tank not rusty, All in all, very pleased...
I'll check that, thanks. It might save quite some wiring time, and hacking into the system. I hate having to splice and dice on a harness, always worried about the splice points corroding, even with dielectric grease.
