Braking resistor used as a load bank

An old electric water heater (filled with water, BTW) can make a good load for a smaller genset. Just leave the two H2O connections open for expansion. They usually have two elements, and pull several kW in normal use, so one can rewire them to get different loadings.

    M37 in the Philippines ???

Something someone stretched out to get that long flatbed on it. Poor thing really looks sad & worn. Over here it would just be a parts widow.

    1952 needs brakes and things.

Also, the USFS or other fire services have this nasty habit of converting tacticals to 12-Volt systems, as appears on your truck.

    1952 needs brakes and things.

That is a Hydrovac brake booster. The entire air system may have been removed hence. More pix necessary under the hood to determine just that. Reo made their own Gold Comet 331 engines in the early days, and Continental may have on a later contract. Nice project there, especially with the...

I second the use of lube in them. Keeps 'em going.

Vintage pics of M809s at Aberdeen Proving Ground

I remember the 800-series going through tests at Yuma Proving Ground. Silt, deep sand, clay mud, hot weather, cross open desert. Things not found back east, but one never knew where the trucks would wind up.

New Electric HUMMER (GMC) - costs over $100 to charge?????

Does anyone make 3-phase chargers? Especially 480V?

    Current M35A2 value?

Wow, but not surprised. In AZ, anything over 25 years old is eligible for licensing as a "Historic Vehicle". AZ title 28 (motor vehicle code) states as such, so it is non-commercial and not subject to DOT rules on lighting, logs, weight, braking systems, eTc. Hauling stuff is OK if not for...

    Continental's CMD-350; a 350HP multifuel engine

It was something I never forgot, just seeing the carnage. I suspect individual drivers never forgot their experience, either. Probably 'cause another MSG (or higher rank) had serious words with them...

    Continental's CMD-350; a 350HP multifuel engine

I'm so glad "they" know the bottom end can handle those ponies... I don't, having seen hundreds of LDS & LDT engines at Yermo with the center web blown out. The old MSG there called them light bulb motors, 'cause you never know when they would blow out...

Is a Turbo HMMWV Engine Mounted in the Engine Bay Off Axis?

I saw three prototype Hummv's at the Yuma Proving Grounds back in the early 80's. One was from Teledyne, one from AMG, I don't remember who built the third. The AMG was a very neat truck at the time. The others looks like "hurried" projects.

Is a Turbo HMMWV Engine Mounted in the Engine Bay Off Axis?

All because they ditched the Deutz 6 aircooled in "favor" of the GM 6.2L. And it gave you the cantilever steering box, too.
