Welcome to the fold. And good luck on finding the Deuce of your dreams. They're out there and often reasonably priced but count on spending a few dollars making it "your deuce". This SS membership has a bunch of good guys who've already been down the path you're taking and aren't shy about...
Getting drivelines on the baby HEMTT together and I'm bothered by what I think is excessive play in the third member. The axles I'm using are the full air brake M-900 series Rockwells and I have (I think) too much rotation at the rear axle driveshaft flange; close to a quarter of a turn. The...
RE: Re: RE: Stock dual exhaust size?
Maybe this'll help... maybe not.
"Pipe" is measured by it's I.D. i.e. 1/2" water pipe is 1/2" inside. Pipe's "schedule #" is what determines wall thickness and pressure rating; schedule 40, sch. 80, sch. 300. I sometimes do steamfitter's work at the RR...
The whole thing about CARC is that, applied right, it's a continuous urethane "skin". Our instructions say to spray the entire vehicle with the 383 green coat then apply the other colors over the green. This keeps you from having unprotected primer areas there chemical agents can stick/soak in...
Yeah, cutting through heavy rust is like cutting a box of 4th of July sparklers. All that oxygen in the iron oxide gets liberated at once as the torch tip goes by and it can be spectacular. Like JimK sez, a heavy straight edge (1"X3") is a must. I watched a guy waste a sheet of plate because, as...
For preheat: a ring of short 3/8" to 7/16" bright blue points inside the cone of flame. Tips of this ring of flame should just touch the work-- the tip of the cutting torch will be about the same distance off of the metal's surface. Allow the metal to become bright red to orange before pressing...
All excellent points jimk. Another quirk is that cast-iron can't be cut either.
Avoid synthetic materials for clothing as it'll melt and fuse to skin. Wear leathers or other heavy protection 'cause a red hot drop of metal down the glove, waist-band or boot-top can sure take your mind off keeping...
Here's something else to consider. If the corregated material is ex-roofing or siding; watch out for galvanizing. The zinc released by cutting is very bad for you if inhaled. Stay safe.
RE: Re: RE: batteries
I've used group 31s and had good luck with them in everything from M37s to a 5 ton. Once the spacers are made and coated with a good grade of enamel so as to keep them from absorbing moisture, you don't have to remake them with every battery change. 31s have 1,000 CCA and...
Got an idea here. I think that you could use any of the solderless, crimp-on bullet connectors in these rubber boots. The secret is the crimping tool in that it doesn't deform the terminal like regular crimpers do. Being crimped with the AF8 tool allows them to slip into the nylon inner sleeves...
BigMike. Here's the proper crimping tool for the watertight connectors. Daniels AF-8 crimping tools come in two sizes though. This one does automotive wire gauge sizes and another AF-8 does 22ga. and smaller (check out the gauge selector wheel on the back side of the tool). Make sure you get the...
RE: compression
Can scan the troubleshooting pages and email them but the manuals are too big to do that with. The engines on similar gensets in my ETMs are Yanmars or Onans. Have you thought about contacting Wisconsin Engines?
RE: compression
Couldn't find any MEP 13 stuff in my etm files. I did look over troubleshooting for my MEP016 and it looks like a lot of safeties are interconnected. Mine will shut down with low oil press. and gen faults. It also talks about checking to see if the governor linkage is free/not...
Thanks 22. I've seen references to "NATO" camo patterns that have a similar look and was wondering if that was the source. The cargo covers that GMA Covers puts out are done the same way as are the trucks we get back from depot. Out in the field (not a harvested wheat field) the pattern seems to...
We're starting to see this pattern more and more-- but no one can tell us what TM it's coming out of. Thought at first it was just the current three-color but the patterns have a choppier, more sharp-edged look to them; especially evident on the container.. Any thoughts?
