I now keep three purple k extinguishers, a 5lb abc extinguisher, and a halon extinguisher in my deuce under the passenger seat, and a ten pound abc extinguisher by my bedside. Had a dash fire in a 5 ton in my front yard two days ago. I've had enough of fire. Anyone that owns a Harsco 5 ton, make...
My kit would be for a single circuit truck and I would need the braided lines as well. I don't care what color the flex lines are. When you get it all figured up shoot me a total price please.
i don't have a problem with it, but at max speed being close to redline is kind of uncomfortable. That, and just having peace of mind that an accidental overrev once or twice won't cause a catastrauphic failure I think is the draw to this topic.
If you can keep it from falling on the engine even if the adhesive breaks down or it rots go for it. But I would be sure to carry a couple of good fire extinguishers with you. I carry four purple k extinguishers and one halon extinguisher in my truck. I'm really fire paranoid.
I saw a 5 ton recently that caught fire and burned down because some of the hood insulation rotted and fell onto the turbo. I would put any and all insulation inside the cab after seeing that. That was a real eye opener. Have another 5 ton in the yard right now that has some melted insulation on...

Check all the fasteners that even come close to being in contact with the exhaust system too. That may explain noise until warmup. Metal expands when it gets warm(duh)
What a shame that we can't have the toys we want because our own government can't trust us. Guess I just gave up one more thing I wanted in life to uncle sugar.
Excellent, I've read a lot of threads on this topic and never seen you post that up. Must have been after I read through them. Really good news to hear though.
Check everything that is belt driven on the engine. I've seen alternators and idler pulleys both make sounds like that and stop when warmed up. Make sure the harmonic balancer isn't coming apart too.
There has to be another engine that uses compatible rod bolts. Anyone that rebuilds it diesels often watching this that can chime in? Seems to me that just balancing the engine and getting new rod bolts would be a big step up in reliability. They don't necessarily have to be performance rod...
