Benjamin Moore Acrylic
"...I will be heading by Ben Moore this week to try this formula out. Did you spray it with a paint gun or get them to load the paint into rattle cans for you?...Rellim4560"
I should have been more clear. On the Deuce, I used all the BM w/ brush or fine foam roller on...
If you're talking about OD semi 24087, the CARC is fine as a base coat but if you don't sand off the CARC roughness, the finish will be dead and not semi gloss. That doesn't matter on the back of the cab and such but I have one spot about 2" high on the right fender above the running board that...
I'm pretty sure everybody lays in the weeds just waiting to post that smiley. It was just your turn in the barrel. Welcome to the site from somebody else pretty new to the site & hobby.

While they can sell a truck on Craigslist that way, I can't believe we're approaching the end of pg 2 w/out the full treatment:

Oh, and I so dearly love that MBAILEY54 Deuce as well.

YO! Much of a drag living in NJ can be, sometimes it pays. I ran the part # past my local truck parts store and the price is 40% less even w/ tax, no shipping.
Ordering tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up and good references guys.
Y'all would PAY to see a YouTube of me in my Camber &...
First, that grey Deuce ad does say OBO so the price might not be such a putoff if it keeps aging. Just sayin'.
Well, by sometime today I'll know if I have a deal on tires listed in the classifieds. Just a couple details to confirm. I did a ton of shopping on the www over the past week since I...
"...395= <undisclosed objects> ..."
Naw . . . in my neck of NNJ this week <undisclosed objects> = "...SZ: 9.00-20...MS5304-5..."
I'm a 24087 'n canvas originalist.

"...Aren't there enough pallets of <undisclosed objects> in New Jersey? You guys have all the great truck deals there..."
I dunnoo. Seems like everybody around here runs down to MD all the time. Besides, think of how many of those nice trucks I'd have to buy & scrap to get about the same...
Thanks. I didn't really expect any of the SS guys to do it. Kinda figured it was a long shot, but I was hoping that somebody might know a packing service so I could figure in their services into how much I wanted to bid.
Well, there's only so many pallets of <undisclosed objects>. Happy...
My theory goes like this. Trapping moisture anywhere is very bad.
Paint dries on outside and seals the outer surface. Canvas wicks or permits passage of ambient moisture from behind/inside as far as the paint layer. Paint on outside traps it there. Paint can peel; canvas mildews or rots...
Bump for GL Help
I've been steered here for possible answers on the following thread. Help appreciated.

"... I finally decided the darker green that was used on the Vietnam era trucks..."
If you're referring to 24087, the Gillespie is somewhere between what the commercial paints call 'satin' and 'semigloss'. Most commercial satin or semi will settle down gloss-wise in a couple of months...
Painting Canvas
Personally, I'd really hesitate to do this. Leaving aside the value of canvas, I'd expect anything to eventually look bad because canvas will pass moisture from the inside which vinyl doesn't. Paint doesn't like moisture from behind. I'd think that was especially true in more...
I'm looking at a couple of lots that close in a couple of days at this location and from the pictures they're on pallets but probably need strapping/shrink wrapping for shipping. I called the local services on the GL site but none do only packing. They want the freight, too. I've got a real...
SSDVC: Are you set on alkyd or have you looked into acrylic? How will you apply it? Do you want spray cans available for touchup?
Those answers can all sorta steer you one way or 'tother.

Maywood & Lyons NJ Veteran's Day 2011
My A2 at the Maywood American Legion Veteran's Day Ceremony last fall and the next day at the Vet's hospital in Lyons. Didn't get lazy. Just haven't gotten done.

UniMog S404 w/ M105 Bed
I was at the sand blaster's yard on Sunday taking reflectors, etc. off of my M105 before it goes in for a blast 'n paint. The guy who rents part of the lot for his excavation equipment stopped by to talk. He liked the trailer, had seen my Deuce on the Hill decorated...
If you opened the hood:
- What color was the engine? Yellow might be a clue.
- Is there a data plate on the block, curb side, about the middle toward the front? Might give some info.
- Did you cruise the site or Google/Image view a bit using terms like '3119' and 'multifuel' to see if...
