Maywood, NJ 11/11/11, 11 a.m.
When work interfered with joining the group going to NYC, I ended up squeezing in a little time to give a ride to the local American Legion post this morning. Nice, small town ceremony. About 10 guys braved the cold wind for the 10 min. ride to the WWII Memorial...
Belleville NJ, November 7th
I was invited to the truck's 1st parade. Had a great time. 14 vehicles including a Howitzer. When I bought the boarding ladder, I thought I'd blown the money on a frivolous frill. Scouts proved me wrong!
"... like I have room for THAT in my driveway..."
Sure you do. See below for how to stuff a driveway.
This thread sounds eerily familiar. Last summer I read all the 105 v. 101 advice on the site, and ended up buying a 101 for my Econoline. Actually I ended up with BOTH an A2 and an A3...
Then and Now
Through reading the forum for the past months and my own experience I've discovered that 'The Shakedown' will probably never end as things pop up here and there. For the moment, minor stuff like bulbs and a squeaky throttle pedal.
Seems like the right spot to close this thread...
A lot of alkyd primers are labeled for 2 wks before coating w/ latex. If you have the time, the wait is a good idea.
Also, consider your area's climate for curing time.
Not pertaining to Rust-Oleum in particular but I've rolled a load of alykd flat, both back a ways when it really was 'flat' and more recently since the federal regs virtually eliminated true alkyd flat. They should both roll fine but they won't be as flat as the latex/acrylics. It wouldn't be...
"...If you don't feel up to it at least show up as a "rider" and camper. Most trucks only had a driver so there is always room for a navigator..."
That was my plan for this past weekend until life ran us over. It's now my plan for April.
"... i dont know if her dog liked it either...."
Don't you remember that commercial, "...RRRRogs RRRRuv Trucks!...." Or mebbe I really would have won the 'Senior Citizen in Attendance' prize.
Great photos. Betcha they don't get a lot of tractors running those trails. Love those mountains...
There is a parallel thread from a couple of days ago, http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/76345-looking-heater-advice.html that showed the in-cab mounting of the stock heater, meaning it doesn't pull in external air. Good comments on the results. Improvement might be gained by redoing the intake...
Typo: It's 'Maradyne'.
Welcome to Maradyne will give you their products incl the 5000, probably dealers.
at Google, search "maradyne heater site:steelsoldiers.com" (no quotes) for references on SS
BoyceEquipment.com lists the 8000 Maybe they can get the 5000.
One trick that works with getting off newly applied latex is ammonia, sudsy ammonia, or strong ammonia detergent. It acts as a solvent. Spray right on the paint to be removed, wait a few minutes, then pressure wash (warm water helps.)
Also, consider running warm soapy water thru the gun to...
There is this recent thread https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?73656-1980-s-usmc-markings-needed and a Google searchof 'USMC Truck photos' on the image button will return many USMC M35 photos.
I'm putting my question in this thread mostly to acknowledge I've read all the foregoing comments on numbers. Semigloss nearly finished, I'm coming close to making a decision on bumper numbers. I have a photo 'as auctioned' that matches CARNAC's VIN Info. Mine's the truck on the right in the...
'Which Heater????' has been an open question for me as well. Besides the several military units and ways of mounting from the other threads, I've also looked at the Maradyne 8000 & 9000 civilian heaters. Boyce has the 8000 listed.
Back to the above: For the interior mount M35 unit, it helped...
I've seen a couple other threads noting the original heaters mounted completely in the cab.
The heater controls in most cars and light trucks have a selector to choose recirculating inside air or taking in fresh outside air. With either really hot or cold OATs, it can make a very big...
