I also have the manual stock steering and its slightly easier as well. I run my tires at 60psi and will probably drop them another 5-10psi and see if it rides better.
I did these panel mods so I could monitor the engine more closely. I wanted to see the impact of 395's and hubs had on the motor. Here's the link to my posts on that upgrade:

In addition to doing the 395's and hub upgrade I wanted to be able to monitor my engine more closely via a pyrometer and boost gauge. I modified my panel to be able to do this, here's a pic. Reference my other posts on this upgrade.

Talked with a local 4x4 big tire guru yesterday and he confirmed that about 1/4 inch toe in was what was needed.
So this morning I went out and began the process. First I referenced the TM (9-2320-209-20-3-2 chapter 15) on adjusting toe. Then I went out and loosened the two bolts and...
I had the same problem. Check the 3 pole light switch. Make sure the connector on the back is tight. Also make sure the connector on the turn signal and flasher box under the hood is also tight. Took me forever to figure out that two loose connectors made my brake lights intermittent. GOOD...
I did paint the back of my panel white in addition to adding another instrument light, it is now very bright at night !
You've got to have a cup holder !
Well I finally got my panel done. Just need to wire in the parking brake light is all. Here it is !
I added an extra instrument light, parking brake light, pyro and boost gauges.
The instrument lighting for the pyro and boost gauge is done in series so its tied in with the instrument light...
I need to adjust the toe. My understanding is that with bigger tires you need some toe in. Toe out affects turn in. I'm not looking for turn in ability but straight line stability which is helped with a slight toe in on the front wheels.
I'll post some more pics when I get back from my trip. I just finished a major instrument dash upgrade. Should get them up Thursday. I did install a boost gauge and pyrometer to see what's going on as well as an extra instrument back light and hand brake warning light. Just need to finish...
The gear sets are available. Read the details about them. They recommend you up the IP and install a pyro gauge.
I think the .69 gears are too high for the deuce if you have to do these things to make the truck go. That's the main reason I chose the 395's . They also look really good too.
It seems that guys that have problems like this are running WMO or WVO. I thought about running both but the extra filter changes needed just don't make that worthwhile to me. If I could get WMO for free I would still dilute at least 50/50. I only run diesel in mine.
