Unless the can is sealed, they rain humidity inside. Most have sacks of desiccant in them. Desiccant can be dried in an oven and reused over and over. Best to seal the can and get it the 5 PSI of whaever they pressurize them with (nitrogen)???
I have access to NOS GM ignition lock cylinders for the CUCV. These even have the GM key with the 73Y2 punchout still in place. Sadly, they are not cheap.

There is an outboard frame rail on the M887 bodies. It is a little close and an A3 axle with stockish tires might work. It will not work with A3 tires. I have an A3 with 235/85R16 cucv rolling stock. I can measure it for sure.
Ref tail lights, I considered same. I even test fit them but...
FWIW I added a 2" block to the aft crossmember when I built mine. The body sits much better that way. I have an M887 body on my CUCV and it's blocked up 2" in the rear.
I think the obvious way is to get DLA to drop that "off road only" part from the paperwork. If it isman emission issue, just use the same agreement they just used in resuming sales. To effect this change it needs to be a legit grass roots movement across the nation much like was done in GA.
Pretty easy actually. Helps a bunch to have a lockplate remover. Sure Autozone or the like rents them. I concur with most folks, ignition is changed or munged up.
Go to the back and unplug the rear harness. Use a test light to see if anything is making it back to the rear. Pinout of the harnesses may (likely) be different.
