you can extend the sides upward with longer verticals, but then the original canvas is too short on the sides..the Mess Trucks and tool trucks we fabbed in the field had stand up room...we had the German Labor Service guys sew up some side canvas extensions.

The winch and extensions are the same for the M54 series, the M5A2 series and the M800 series... the drive shafts vary somewhat by application...the pto's are the same... You can mount a pto on the rear of the xfer case, but it is usually for running a pump for a rear application..all detailed...

If you cut em off longer, you can just use butt connectors to put the Packard or Douglas connectors on... and use black shrink tube to cover the butt connector.
