So what is the increase in RPMS to the axle components . These axles are what they are , they were designed for a off-road environment with sloppy tolerences and poor balance . They were state of the art in 1950.

You are checking it with it running right ? It should be between the 2 dots on the stick cold . Also I would put a quart or two in at a time and keep checking it so you don't overfill it.
What i explained about putting it on jackstands and running it through the gears is how you get fluid through the whole system. You lost fluid through the lines and cooler , it won't purge that under load.
Put it upon jack stands and run through the gears, then check the fluid , it is probably low on fluid . It drains out of the torque converter when siting that low . If the pan was off you would have had a large oil spot after a week.
I'm sure if you search you will find threads that the answer was just that the switch was off , there are probably a 100 on the lights not working because the blackout switches were off. With no information on your mechanical background and only being a member for a month or so starting with...
I got to agree with swbradley1 on the fluids . Also the pre-trip inspection you should have seen the brakes were caged , that's something you learn when you get that piece of paper you don't care about. There was no inspection before you bought the truck and it doesn't sound like there was much...
If you go to the parts tm ( -P ) the part numbers are there along with a diagram of how it goes together.
You ask what the fist step was and I answered what to do first . No mention in your post if you even have downloaded the tm's .
