What is this fuel tank from?

I got a pretty nice fuel tank, it looks like a deuce tank, but it's not the same size as the one on my A2. My tank is 39.5"long x 15.5" tall x 22" deep. The new one I got is 31" long x 17" tall x 26" deep. They both look the same, just different measurements. The new one also has late 60's...

What percentage of your deuce has to be painted to count? I got some pieces done so far.....

Does the M35A3 really make a good FD Brush Truck

If you have 1000 gallons in it you are WAY overloaded and are going to KILL SOMEONE. You should check the capacities of the truck and put in the proper size tank. And maybe you won't get stuck with it. :soapbox:

    Military modifications to M35's

I'm just wondering what modifications you all have seen done to the Deuce's by different military units. I'm not talking about accesseries listed in the TM's, or Gun Trucks, just the little things units did to adapt them to whatever mission or job they did. I know our shop deuce in the maint...

Where did the "Conversations" forum go??

I don't see a "Conversations" forum anywhere, did it get relabeled, split up, or did I just miss it? Seems like there's more trouble with this new site loading than with the old. :?

    Moving TV with MV

Uh, you KNOW that things going to blow the picture tube next week now that you've moved it upstairs don't you?? :cookoo: I just replaced my old tube TV with an 32" LED one. Weighs about 6 pounds and cost less than half of what I paid for the old one. Heck it's only been moved about 15 feet...

    Deuce driving tips

ICE=Chains, PERIOD. I don't know that grooves will help that much on packed snow, probably better than before, but lockers would probably help too.

    Deuce driving tips

FYI, if your deuce catches fire next to the pump, your deuce and the pump will burn up, that's it. No ka-blooey, no Hiroshima sized fireballs, no Hollywood special effects. The fuel tanks are underground for a reason. And along with that, don't get a little cheapo Walmart extinguisher...

    Deuce driving tips

If you're off road and the ground is anything but hard and dry, engage the front axle. Use low range if it's muddy. Trailers in mud are a good way to get stuck, think of them as boat anchors. Also remember that unless they've been upgraded to LED's, deuce tail lights are hard to see...

    M35 (Not A1 or A2)

Your description is pretty vague, pics and info on condition would help.

Does the M35A3 really make a good FD Brush Truck

Just remember that just because this is a military vehicle, it's NOT a tank. Unless you have ROPS made for the truck, you will have NO rollover protection. Read the NIOSH reports on military vehicles and do drivers training BEFORE you put this truck in service. Good luck with your "new" truck.

    Hello from Columbus, OH!

Hello from Ostrander, (yeah, I know you probably haven't heard of it, that's why I moved there) North of Dublin, in between Marysville and Delaware. Don't sell the car, getting more vehicles is always desirable. :D

    Holes in back of cab

Ya know I never even payed attention to those, I was busy trying to remember all the other cool ideas I was going to steal from you like those jerry can mounts on the rear mudflaps!! :-P

Blew tire on loaded Deuce - Tire source close to me?

Is that a cinder block under the axle? You do know that's a no-no don't you? They're notorious for being unreliable as a jack stand. Use 6x6 cribbing or a regular jack stand to be safe.

    Holes in back of cab

Thanks guys, never was in a truck that used them. All the trucks in my old unit had the convoy lights mounted on the front of the cab. We didn't have gun mounts either, but we would open the passenger windshield all the way up and put an M-60 out the window over the hood during war games.:D

    Holes in back of cab

Now that the bed is off of the truck, I noticed that there's a couple of what look to be splice plates on the back of the cab on either side. They're bolted on, but there's holes that obivously have never had a bolt through them as the paint is not worn at all. Where these holes for...

    Restoration of my M35A2

A Vietnam truck would almost certainly have a canvas cargo cover, not the vinyl ones. I'm pretty sure they didn't have any 3 color ones unless it was a field expedient job. I may be wrong, but I don't recall seeing any pics showing that kind of cover. I have a 3 color cover that needs some...
