I just got my generator running today a 10KW unit with three hours showing on the clock. The unit was drained of all fluids and prepped for storage after fueling and priming doing all the checks it fired up had one injector sticking for a bit but as it ran it cleared out and runs like new. My...
Joe, Remember mine didnt have brakes when you hauled it home but after a brake bleed and a couple of fuel lines I drove it over 200 miles home most of those trucks require very little to get them roadworthy the federal surplus trucks were never beat up like forestry or fire trucks..
I had a lot of 1009s like that usually has the tell tale crack through the rib in the center they are a real pain to open because that takes the spring tension out of the hood so they dont release right. I usually replace the hood but I have saved a few by useing the adhesive called liquid nails...
I usually put 1400X20s on the trucks I bob this truck has a three inch lift under the cab, fenders and bed. I like the recentered HEMTT rims as seen in the pics it gives a lot of clearance to the steer tires I added power steering to this truck even with the addition of the power steering gear...
Your transfer case chain probably slung the ATF out the back of the TC while driving it useing front wheel drive if the yoke isnt in there to seal it the oil pours out the back.
Joe you might want to check on that again all mine are plated as AV I might be wrong but the service that does my titles and plates said it was OK to plate them as AV I checked and couldnt find any restrictions.
I got rid of the wobble in the front of my 1008 by replacing a leaky steering stabilizer but when the weather breaks Im going to replace the king pin springs too.
You will be hard pressed to find a auto trans to fit a stock deuce the allison 545 is common in buses and about the shortest at 31 inches you will have to move the TC back.
I have driven deuces and five tons home from GL for years brakes are a BIG thing if you move it and the brakes dont feel right game over. That being said having them towed-hauled offers great piece of mind I have all my trucks hauled now 1009s, 1008s, deuces and five tons alike an accident...
I had a couple vickers PS pumps I took off a couple M52s I sold them to a couple guys here doing PS conversions they bolt right onto the multifuel engine like a previous post stated take the cover off in front of the IP they bolt right in.
I might add I did have to use the steering column from an 818 with this set up because its a jointed column and I went down to my friends shop and had him order an adapter with the correct amount of splines to put the steering shaft on the box. The added advantage of the five ton steering column...
I put this steering gear from a ford truck on my bobbed deuce I have HEMTT rims on the truck with a shallower backspacing but I believe you can move the pump and mount it back or forward more to clear the front tire on a hard right turn. I put a cat engine in this truck useing the stock cat pump...
There is an easy way and hard way to put those IPs on the engine the easy way is to take out the oil fill tube and unbolt the gear that way instead of taking the front cover off the engine.
Go down to your local menards and get a green tarp they look to be made of a cotton duck material they are real close to OD in color and make great material for seat covers,101 and 105 covers I even had a generator cover made from one for my 10 KW generator.
Wow I was going to move down south thinking you guys have a more relaxed easier to get along with state government but it sounds like the policies of these high strung idiots making laws up here is starting to drift south.
I can explain things to her but if it doesnt show up as a number in the bank account she doesnt understand all I can say if I die first there is going to be one huge garage sale.
