    I'm an IDIOT!

The ground is the one furthest from the 2wire plug. If the alt was built incorectly and the ground is not isolated it can be used in the alt1 position and move alt one to the alt 2 position. Alt-1 is wired like most 12V systems, the ground lug goes to the ground post or frame ground on...

    I'm an IDIOT!

Easy to check. Take a VOM and check for continuity btween the ground post on the alternator and the alternator case. If you have continuity they got something wrong. Ie they built it for a 12V system. A 12V system ground is usually the alt case.

    Gen light / Charging problems.

One of the best things you can do on these trucks is to start at the battery and go to every connection and clean it. Just follow the cables around. Use a wire brush and some sort of corrosion wash and clean all connections including the grounds, buss-bars etc. and alt connections. Just spend 3...

Mine the strap inside the alt from the diodes to the pos post was corroded and loose, was only getting about 12.8 v out of it, just enough to keep the light from comeing on, but way to low and not...

$2600  that's more than I paid for the truck. What model trans with an OD will bolt up? I could make a lot of bio-D for $2600.
