Hmmwv spin on fuel filter conversion

Well, if you read about the travails of the MEP-series genset owners who have done everything short of disassembling their units to remove the fuel/water separator, you might think thrice about putting one in your Humvee. I got lucky. I only needed to use a TEKTON filter wrench, which still...

    New Member FL

Welcome Jarhead, Gyrene, US MF Marine! I had many a lost weekend with my Marine friends (I was Army) at several duty stations many decades ago. Flaming shots of 151 - whoof! You've come to the right place. Great group here, helpful as the day is long. You, like a LOT of us, seem to recall a...

    Leaking engine fuel filter

Welp... Went to ACE hardware yesterday, with parts in hand, found o-rings to fit 1/4-20 bolt, actually 6mm ID metric, about 3mm thick. I used one for the inside of the bowl, one for the spacer between the filter and filter itself. For OUTSIDE the bowl, I found a sink valve washer with 1/4" ID...

    Another new guy from Maryland

Welcome to the madness. I know ONE HMMWV owner, “AOR”. Passed along an “extra” 12 bolt rim to him, let him sit in my HMMWV and he had one of his own within weeks; then I sold my M1102 trailer to him. Several other owners here. There’s a parts guy, Brett, his dad (RIP) used to post here as...

    Leaking engine fuel filter

I don't think so. Note the gaskets provided do NOT include one for the base, which is where the housing is leaking. (BTW - it wasn't leaking before I replaced the filter) Only ONE of the larger gaskets is required; the one that comes with the WIX filter fits the recess, but WIX doesn't...

    Leaking engine fuel filter

I mentioned this in the other thread on “MEP 802-803 filters” The third stage filter (just before the injector “tree”) leaked. A lot. Fast forward to sourcing new seals, cleaning out about a gallon of spilled fuel (really really), and the thing STILL leaks. How hard is this, anyway? There...

New member and owner with questions to get 1043A2 started

What they said, plus, what, nobody mentioned the ever-popular "Swellman" glow plugs? Yes. DISCONNECT GROUND (seriously consider installing a keyed ground disconnect switch - details here somewhere) ANYTIME you work on electrics. I got lucky, mine ran, but blew a LOT of white smoke (unburned...

    MEP-802A MEP-803A Filters and Parts

Been beating the TMs real good for about an hour looking for an answer to this question: What are the part numbers, or replacements (viton o-rings, NAPA parts, etc) for the GASKETS for the fuel filter cartridge housing? In the engine manual ARMY TM 9-2815-253-24, page 3-26, there‘s a blow-up of...

    M998 6.2 Water pump/fan clutch help please

Used to be kits available, there’s an NSN for them, no one seems to have them in stock. I tried locating all the seals/bearings going by the parts list, found one part one place, two at another, bearings somewhere else, S&H plus parts and no o-rings was just too dauntingn a task, so I have a...

2011 Mep 803 wiring for house

THAT is why I enjoy being a member of this board. Sharing. I'll stick w/ 50A for now, but know I can put a 60A breaker in down the road is enormously helpful. Not sure what size AC I'll be installing, but figured I'd need the output of the 803a for it (802a helps, just not enough "oomph" to...

2011 Mep 803 wiring for house

Anyone trying to figure out how to "drop a ground rod", it's easy. Good videos on making a ground rod water drill on youtube. You buy a 5/8" female hose adapter and a 10 foot length of conduit. Tap the adapter into the conduit. Wrap tape around conduit at 2' 6" from hose end. You can also...

    MEP-803A Throttle is stuck

Judging from the corrosion around it, it’s not likely to be the ONLY thing stuck, frozen, damaged. Get your favorite brand of penetrating oil (Penetro 90, Kroil, ATF/acetone, whatever) and go to town. Consider investing in stainless steel fittings for the rest of the genset. Keep us posted...

    6.2/6.5l Turbo kits

MAN. You can buy an entire 6.5L turbo drive train for about HALF what they're asking. Would be great to see performance/dynamometer testing results.
