    CARC tan question

I've always gotten paint from Army Jeep Parts. Army Jeep Parts Inc. Home page. They sell the same Gillespie paint as does Rapco. For your tan truck order the Gillespie 30277, spray cans or gallon size. It's an exact match (prior to the trucks paint fade of course).

    m1009 blazer 25mph @ 8% grade

So the truck runs out fine on flat roads? Did you try dropping the truck into a lower gear? The 3:08 rears are not the best for pulling itself up a long grade. Also, be very careful lugging the engine on a long grade. It can put the coolant temps into the danger zone. Try the next lower gear on...

    T-17 Halftrack pictures

Woah! Just when you think you've seen it all, something like this shows up!!! Awesome! Beautiful job! Tells us more watson. What is the history behind the one you have? Was it sitting in a barn on a tobacco farm for 40 years? Was it complete (except for the bed) when you took ownership? Do you...

    Tips for storing a CUCV

Completely fill the tank with fuel as stated above. Otherwise you will get condensation on the inside of the tank. Be sure to drain any water from the fuel filter/water seperator on the fire wall. A lot of water in there could freeze and cause damage. Test your coolant for it's freeze level...

    Cummins Powered 5Ton Trucks

OK, it happened. Murphy found me. Great way to end a deer hunting trip. I'm hoping we have some parts engines squirreled away out there. I'm in need of 1 piston. What came out is a Clevite 4-ring design, p/n 224-2342. Can anyone help? TIA!

Battery goes dead while truck is parked

Keep the starting and glow plug system stock if you can. Makes it alot harder to troubleshoot when you start changing things since the manual will no longer apply to those systems. Those systems work better than the civy 12v trucks, especially starting in cold climates. Spend some time with your...

    10K Winch Gaskets

Contact Memphis Equipment. Pull the nsn #'s of the ones you need from the tm before you call. Not the cheapest source but they will usually have what you need.

    Gauges question

I would suggest installing an engine coolant temp gauge as this is the most important reading to monitor in my opinion. It doesn't take alot to overheat a 6.2 in the cucv when towing, climbing a long grade, etc., especially in the 1009. A leak in the head gasket will be the first thing you get...

    They lost my truck!!!!

Just read this complete thread. After reading 920's first post and seeing the pictures I knew exactly who he was talking about. Colin Dibnah bought all of the tan depot rebuilt 818's with winches that were for sale out of Indianapolis back in early '07. About 2 months after the sale they started...
