Ether all the way. A little goes a long way, and a cold engine responds almost immediately to a metered shot. Care must be used with ether. Only ever give the engine a shot while it's cranking. A bottle will last multiple cold seasons on average.
Yes, they use the B blank key, or 'round head' type.

Also know that the deuce heater kits are not the same as the 5 ton. The diverter is different, as are the controls and obviously the mounting brackets and plate for the heater box.

Normally, you do not need to do item 1. If you are loosing fuel in the lines everytime the truck is parked, then you need to look for the problem. Air leak? Fuel pump not checking fuel and allowing drainback? Find/fix the problem and save the wear and tear on the starter. Good luck.
