I'll add my 2cents. I've always had good luck with the 6tl's, until recently. My latest deuce came with 2 dead 6tls. One had a dead cell and the other I was able to save by putting in new acid. That was late summer '09 and it's still working fine. I replaced the dead cell battery with a new 6tl...
Clicking is good.... it's trying to ignite. Drippings not good... but it's getting fuel. Check to see if the exhaust is not plugged. I had one plugged with a bees nest once and it did the same thing.
Solid looking truck. Besides a new looking heater, you've got all the breaker panels too.
What parts do you need? Post up and I'm sure someone here can help you out. Also, send TedG a PM. Ted's Parts Emporium has lot's of needful things. ;-)
LMC and Classic Industries have what you are looking for. Problem with the pick and pull parts is that they are just as brittle as the broken one you have.
Well from the looks of your M1009 in the pic, it's a miracle it ran at all! :-P
Sounds like a fuel problem, restricted filter or getting air in the lines. Start with that.
What was it, oil?
Can you imagine! I would like to see that on photoshop.
The government doesn't lie, right? It's there in black and white so it must be true. [thumbzup]
Ever put a 6.2 in one? I've often thought putting the engine and drivetrain from an m1008 into a 715 would be the ticket. Dana60 and 14corp axles are already geared 4:56 and the large wheelwells will accept much larger tires. It would be much more streetable than the original hurc 230, t-case...
LOL! Isn't that the truth Lloyd! You are more than welcome to it!
Back in June when I was working out of state. USMC truck. I'm home now and finally have a bit of time today so I was getting info for the sf97 off the pictures I took of it and noticed the dataplate. Crazy!
A swingfire heater is a portable fuel fired heater used in extreme cold/arctic conditions. A socket/receptacle is installed on the engine compartment for the heater to 'plug' into. Kinda like an external block heater.
