my local salvage yard has been crushing deuces *tears*

Don't forget the pics. Yeah, I need a couple of cab tops, some cab hardware, a cargo top, some bows and uprights, slave cable, gladhands and hoses... Some spare lights, MCs, WCs, lines, hoses, belts, and tires wouldn't be bad, either. Standing by for your report. ;-)

You think they'd sell parts off them? Nacogdoches is about a 6 hour drive for me, but I'll drive up there with wrenches, time, and money if it means I can salvage parts for a good price.

Plate is optional. You can use the bumper numbers instead. And really, I don't think the SF97 is necessary. I think theoretically the invoice should suffice, but you'll probably get a wide range of opinions on that. The lady at my tax office wouldn't accept it. She wanted an SF97. YMMV...

Well, the key issue is "public interest." What does that mean? It's a vagary of the law. While I'm pretty sure they didn't intend for it to mean just cruising around, you could interpret that as "public interest."

ok, you convinced me. Now, I just need to come up with half a dozen plausible excuses.

I don't plan on making mine a daily driver. But probably a weekly driver. IOW, I know it's illegal. The objective here is to see how likely it is I'll get caught. How much is flat bed truck registration? I'm guessing quite a bit, right?

With plates or just the .mil markings? eta: I'll want to pick your brain later. I've got a 1919A4 that I want to mount, but am not totally sure how to do it...

How often have you been pulled over? Based on the reports of others, registering my deuce as a normal truck would be over $300! For one YEAR! I just think it's outrageous that I should pay 1/5th of the value of the vehicle in taxes every single year. Regardless of how much I drive it! Of...

    My NEW 1967 M35A2

Whoa, nice wheels! That is the absolute best paint/body on a deuce I've seen yet... Hey, you should go period specific and put an 8-track player in it. :-D

    M35A Deuce Battery

Also, I believe Exide in San Antonio still makes the big square military batts, new. Another thing you might consider is putting a battery conditioner/charger with a desulfation mode on them. I got a 24V batteryminder that *appears* to be working on mine.

How safe to tow a Deuce with another Deuce?

Keith, you should also consider joining the MVPA. We're going to do a military vehicle show the 26th of September. There's going to be at least a dozen military vehicles there. Including a half-track with mounted .50s!

How safe to tow a Deuce with another Deuce?

You guys are incredible. Ok, I need to do some research on brake system parts and what I need to order. Also, I'll go ahead and get a tow bar, just in case we can't get the brake issue resolved on the lot. The yard guy was nice too. Said he'd help me try to prime the system. Could the...

How safe to tow a Deuce with another Deuce?

I wonder if a 7 ton capacity trailer with an 8 foot wide bed could safely haul one of these things?
