I got a smoking deal on a Deuce off govliq the other day. $770 with winch.
It looks pretty good, but the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor. I didn't see any puddles around any of the tires, so HOPEFULLY it's just something like the system has lost prime or it's just low on DOT 5 or...
Eh, I just drove it home with fingers crossed. And then again to show off to a friend 30 miles away with fingers crossed again.
Passed lots of cops... and none of them did anything more than wave. I guess they thought I was in the national guard or something.
oh my god. This is ridiculous.
I didn't even realize I needed a SF97 until I tried to title the vehicle today. The lady at the tax office refused to title it on bill of sale alone and said I needed "Form97"
And it could take 3 MONTHS to get the SF97 back??? How is this worth $60?!??
Yeah, I took a glance at the line of trucks the day before the auction opened.
The thing that caught my eye about a couple of them were things written on the windsheild.
One said "starter inop" and another said "brake inop" or something like that. Sorry, I don't remember exactly which ones...
Hah... they ended up charging my card twice yesterday (Monday)... which resulted in an automatic "pending status" because they ran over my credit limit with a x2 charge.
So after clearing that up with USAA, the charge has gone through and the invoice page still says "Awaiting payment in full"
Hm.
The only issues I'm AWARE of on the truck is some apparent leaking on one of the rear axle grease bearing thingys. Looks like a little pool of oil resting on the inside of the wheel rim. I'll take a picture tomorrow.
A friend of mine gave me this response:
I don't even know enough for this to...
Jeez.
Yeah, I'm watching this situation like a hawk.
This is a 9300+ dollar plus invoice. default fee would be $2,300 :-x
If Monday doesn't work, I'm going to drive to Arizona (about 1500 miles) with card and cell phone in hand and personally watch Ms. Wholin charge the card after she watches...
They called me back a minute ago. Decline again.
So I called USAA. The pre-authorization ran out an hour before govliq tried to charge the card again.
After this mess is over with, I'm done with USAA.
Ok, I won two lots of .223 brass out of San Antonio. No problem.
So I fill out my EUC (I've done an EUC in the past) send it in. The EUC lady dealing with my event notes a correction needs to be made and sends it back. I correct it and send it in and she sends it on to Battle creek.
All...
Must be a Virginia thing, then.
My experience was that Progressive would not insure it as a personal vehicle because it weighed greater than 12k pounds.
So they were GOING to insure it as a commercial vehicle until they found out that it was a former military vehicle. At that point, they said...
I haven't talked to them again. I went with Falcon insurance group. $380 for a year. However, I did go with a 6 month policy renewal, so I'll be flexible about who I go with by the time they know.
I'll call USAA again and get an update maybe the end of August. That's about the earliest the...
Wow, thanks mark. I'll give them a call.
The deuce is great. I drove it around on some back roads in San Pat county and none of the cops pulled me over. They just smiled and waved!
Hey, got any more info on the san antonio MVPA meetings? I'll IM you my number if you don't still have it...
Ok, talked to the local insurance agent and she told me that two companies would insure me (of the ones on their list)
Traveler's and Progressive
Progressive was the cheaper one, at $170/6 months. I'm going to go down there and look at any fine print I can to make sure they really do know...
Just got off the phone with USAA's commercial division.
The lady told me they've gotten requests from other members with military trucks but their underwriter (progressive) doesn't insure MVs... HOWEVER, at their last meeting, they made a good proposal pointing out that they do insure other...
