Ditto!!!
The reading on the dipstick without the engine running is meaningless. Also, simply running the engine and checking the level when hot is not sufficient. You need to drive the truck and exercise the transmission in all gears, including reverse. Also, as previously mentioned, the...
I'm now thinking about spraying bedliner on the cab floors of both my A2 and A3. The bedliner can then be painted to match the original GI colors. Thanks for the suggestion.
Be careful with floor mats. M35A3s come standard with rubber floor mats. Unfortunately, they tend to suffer rust from condensation and leaking rainwater under the mats. I'm seriously considering taking the rubber floor mats out of my A3.
I like going through GL to save money. Preview if you can. Those GL writeups and photos don't tell much. Often, the GL rep can tell you if the truck ran when delivered. There aren't many M35A2s around on GL these days, only A3s. Check out a GL truck thoroughly before recovery if you intend...
Congratulations, it looks like a good clean unit! If you haven't done so yet, I would highly recommend draining the fuel tank and cleaning it if needed and also cleaning the fuel filters. I would also change the oil and oil filter. Read the TMs, they are very good for this genset. One...
I would recommend bleeding the injectors, but I don't believe you should need to. Try a little ether and see if it will fire. Make sure you don't overheat the starter. I limit my starter on diesels to about 10 seconds max and then wait about two minutes.
Try shutting off the air assist steering by closing the valve on the firewall. This will eliminate any leaks in the steering system and will help narrow down the problem. I had a similar problem with my A3 and had to replace the governor. When my governor was faulty, the pressure relief valve...
Make sure the lift pump is working. You should be able to hear fuel returning to the tank. I would then drain and clean the fuel tank and replace all three filters again.
Congratulations on getting your new A2. The truck looks very nice and I'm glad you had an uneventful drive home, except for the rain. You are smart starting out by reading the TMs.
The viscosity compensator was bypassed. The truck should still run fine. Sometimes the viscosity compensator will leak fuel into the crankcase, and now it can't happen.
I think you are the one that doesn't understand. It is obvious that you have not been in the military. No one is picking on Stranger75. People are simply expressing opinions.
There are severl things to consider here. Many military vehicles are quite large and difficult to maneuver quickly...
The type of convoy formation is very important. In a Close Column, the vehicle speeds must be under 25 mph and the distance between vehicles is 25 - 50 meters. In an Open Column formation, the speeds are over 25 mph and the distance between vehicles is ~100 meters. Open Column formations are...
You first need to confirm that someone hasn't burned up the brake shoes on the parking brake and at the same time confirm that the parking brake assembly is complete and installed properly. Sometimes springs are missing or broken. It is quite common that drivers forget to release the parking...
