Has anyone else noticed the high amount of GL items that are sold at auction, but appear for sale on the next auction? Could there be that many people defaulting on their purchases?
Gasser has brought up a good point. The canninalizaion issue. Be shure to check for any missing attachment hardware before you drive away. Especially the steering linkages and U joint straps. It won't take you long to eyeball the engire underside of the the vehicle.
I agree with CUCVFAN about the 6.2's all having the same metalurgy. They were not probleatic like the 6.5's were when they were highly loaded. When General Engine Products (GEP) the subsidiary of AMG took over production of the 6.5, they did change the metalurgy and casting design. I have been...
Ah.... Grasshopper, don't forget that with good pose and lighting you can take an excellent foto of gao si and make it seem more than the sum of it's ingredients.
JAsher45, You'll like the power that the Cummins has. It's a tall engine compared to the Detroits. Are you doing a body lift? I wanted to do that conversion too, but chose to install the turbo 6.5 and 4L80E trans into my M998. I figured that I could buy most of the parts which has been basically...
The rocker arms on the CUCV's are cast steel instead of stamped steel. but as far as my measurements went, they were the same ratio. I found this out when replacing a broken valve spring on a surplus truck with a 6.2 with a spring from a CUCV head. As far as the hardening of the injector pumps...
JAsher45, WOW! that's some real nice supplimental armor. How are the Turbo engines and the 4L80E tranny's holding up in the heavy Humvees? Stay Safe, George
Is anyone looking for a probably NOS 6.2 or 6.5 engine assy? GL has one coming up in event #2579. It is item #5500. I recently purchased a late production 6.5 engine assy with the mounting boss for the top mount Humvee/Hummer turbo and oil cooled pistions. It was listed as a 6.2 engine. I think...
Bear76, The #2 Alt (passenger side) is the one that really needs to have an isolated ground for the 24 volt system, but for parts commonality GM used the same alt for both sides.
Desert Deuce, I was in such a rush to let everyone hear my "wisdom" that I must have missed your earlier post.
NEIOWA, I still have difficulty telling the difference between a Cessna 172 and 182 and a Camaro from a Firebird as well. Some day I'll get things all sorted out. :D
Although I was able to post a foto when I started this thread, I think my problem with adding a foto in reply to the thread is because the foto may be too large. These buttom pushing problems are tricky, so I'll have a friend come over and check it out for me.
Steelsoldiers, I have not...
Definitly having the bed out of the way makes thing way easier, but it can be done with the bed in place. I pulled a tank out of a truck while the bed was still in place and it seemed not really difficult. I did pull off the fuel fill hose to siphon the fuel out though. There is a ground wire...
Auctions are like that. If there is someone to bid against, the price will go higher. With people bidding on the internet, without inspecting. You can bet that the pretty ones will go higher at any given point in time, as compared to an ugly one. I bet many are suprised at what they bought, when...
I'm in the process of adding a right hand tank right now and I have found that the two brackets and the tanks are the same for the Left hand and Right tanks, although the brackets need to be flipped to the other side of the tank. The holes for the aux fuel tank brackets are already stamped into...
