Explain to me why HMMWVs are not surplus'd out to JQ Public

After the first couple of years of hearing Hummer owners complain of too little front leg room, AMG chopped out the brace, that extended from B pillar to B pillar, behind each of the front seats. I think that greatly affected side impact protection, but it probably diden't hurt much, as the...

    Torque.

The head bolts are one time usage items and did you use some sort of fat head gasket to make up for a warped deck?

    Insuring a CUCV

The minimun insurance coverage is the only possible problem that I see. There are too many people faking injuries from even minor collisions in my opinion, to try and save a buck on insurance. Those soft tissue injuries are hard to dissprove, even in court. It's also good to carry one of those...

    Humvee project

I think the extra power that the duramax has would be a welcomed change, but like installing a V8 into a Austin Healy or something similar, there are always compromises to be made. I think on the Alphas, the weak link was the halfshafts. AMG had to program the computer so the engine did not make...

    M1009 Jack mounting

I just looked to see what jack I had in my M1009 and it is a civi jack. The civi jacks have an extra hooked shape to the portion that lifts and the hold down loop sort of wedges between the hook and the body of the jack assy for a good hold.

    WHOS TRUCK IS THIS?

I remember seeing it for sale on E Bay. It has a Humvee engine from a M1113/1114 turbo model in it. I wonder where he got that engine?

    M1009 Jack mounting

Gasser, The one in back should be for holding the folding operating handle. It uses the same type of bolt with spring type nut, but uses a retaining piece under the wing nut to hold the folded operating rod against the sheetmetal of the vehicle. I think this retaining piece was sort of a C...

    M1009 Jack mounting

So at least my psychic abilities are still working at least half way! The angle on the neck of the jack where the curved clamp is not correct in my opinion and dosen't allow the clamp to firmly hold the jack. Usually the rubber mat keeps things in place until the jack sinks into it. It is always...

    M1009 Jack mounting

It sounds like you don't have a floor mat in your Blazer.

    M1009 Floor Mat

I recently bought a floor mat for my Blazer from LMC Truck and it fit really well. Way better than the JC Whitney mat that I used a couple of years ago. Neither have the original textured pattern that the originals have though and they are suprisingly expensive. If you've never installed a mat...

    CUCV Starters on GL

builder 77, you'll be bidding against the likes of SECO and other deep pocket buyers, so I'd recommend pre arranging a more realistic price of at least $125 or you won't have time to contact buyers, when the bidding goes high. You can always come down if you purchase price is lower, depending...

    RPM Sensor???

Electronic injector pump N/A 6.5 detroit diesels use the same injectors as the fine thread 6.2's. The turbo 6.5 detroit's use injectors with a higher pop off pressure, but are still, non electric, mechanical injectors and will fit into a later 6.2. The device that senses the pressure pulse...

    RPM Sensor???

There is a company called "Tiny Tach" that has a small led tachometer that gets it's RPM impulse from something that is attached to any one of the injector lines. It might work for this need and add a tach to the truck as well.

    Alarm Install Question

The white thing just inboard of the door striker is a seat belt retract part. It tells the seat belt retractor if the door is open or closed.

Those adaptors are for the small military towbar setup.

SS diesel supply and the CUCV

The Humvee glow plugs have a round terminal connection instead of a flat one, so unless the glow plug harness has been altered they are not interchangable, but they will interchange in regard to screwing into the cylinder heads.

    M1010 AMBULANCE

Cobra, I bought an NOS surplus military dually rear axle assy from a guy in Kansas. I think his business name is B R Trucks or something similar to that. It was the perfect item for my comversion as it had the 4.56 gearing and detroit locker and wide rear wheel spacing as compared to the narrow...

    M1010 AMBULANCE

It should be relativly easy. I think the wheel base is the same as the pick up. The pick up bed bolts through holes in the frame and those should be there. I think you'll have some trimming at the rear end of the frame if you're going to install a pick up truck bumper and the dually axle is just...

Cool M1010 rock crawler crushes car

I'd rather try to snach a penny out of a leg hold trap than ride in that thing.

question on the (12 bolt) 8-lug rims?

I found a bag of them that still had the label on it. They are called Pilot washers and the AMG part number is 6001844.
