Finally the lift install has started! The drive to LA was uneventful. I averaged 15.71 mpg at an average speed of 65 mph with 34" tall tires from AZ to CA and the trip took just a bit over 6 hrs. I had a lot of thumbs up and a few not so nice looks from people who had Obama stickers next to the...
I too am planning a trip to Alaska and back home. One of the trucks (My current project) will use a Com shelter as the living quarters. My other rig will be a M1010.
How long are you planning you trip to be?
Thanks also for posting the name of the camera you used. Will look them up.
I ordered Rapco paint last week and it arrived pretty fast. If they have the color go for it. If your not sure then order one can and see if it matches. If it does great if not then your only out a few bucks.

You also get a taller over drive .73 and a lower first 6.43 or the 5.41 depending on which year the GM NV4500 is. Either way its a pretty staright forward swap. No need for a body lift either.

seen something like that a few years back at Barstow Marine Logistics base. The front end was smashed. It was based on CUCV II platform and went for quite a bit on GL. I bowed out at I believe 4K. It sold in the 7K to 8K range. Had just a few hundred miles on it if I remember correctly. Good luck.
An M1009 has I believe 3.09 gears? I know they are allot taller than the 4.56 gearing found in the M1008 1010 1028 ect. If you have tall gears like that then you are not even approching the RPM levels we are talking about.
