I definitely wouldn't buy one from GL and immediately drive it across the country. That just isn't a good plan. I wouldn't drive anything across the country unless I'd had it for at least 6 months and knew everything about it. I drove from Blacksburg, VA to San Francisco and back this summer...
Limited slips are reliable, but once you get to the point that you'll be using it a lot, you'll want to go to a real locker. You would probably burn out the clutches pretty fast using it for anything other than mild wheeling. I think the 1028 does have the 205. I'm not sure about the...
How can you tell if the truck has dot 5 or 3? I got my truck from a guy who got it from a guy who got it from a guy...... and there is no way I can know if it had been switched or not.
A shot of the diff cover will clarify, but I think it's a 14 bolt as well. They're not terribly valuable. Generally they'll go for $100, but with the 4.56s and the Detroit, the price should go up to about $300 probably.

I've heard different things from different people. My friends and I have always said C-U-C-V, but I've heard others call it a CUC-V (kuk-v). How do the guys in the service say it? :)
I think I'm going to just switch to an electric pump. I'm tires of dealing with this manual pump. That thing was hard enough to change. I didn't know about that rod and I'm not taking the pump out again... I still haven't tried it to see if it is working yet, though.
