whoops- so how bad did I fry my engine?

The most desirable temperature to properly combust diesel fuel is around 650 degrees. At idle you might be running around 200-300 degrees, not quite enough to properly burn the fuel. What happens is called "wet stacking" and if done often enough can cause damage. If you have to leave it running...

    Greenhorn Questions

Lance, you have bio-diesel available up there, it's at one of those membership/cardlock type fuel stations. I'll ask my buddy up there where it was.

    got the deuce registered.......

One other thing, you might also want to check the CA DMV site and go through the motor vehicle code under citations for driving out of classification. They don't simply give you a ticket. They park your truck until someone who has proper classification can come pick it up. Not trying to start...

    got the deuce registered.......

Sorry, but the Historic Plates do not have any loophole (other than not being required to stop at the scales.)It's all written in plain English for all to read www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/comlhdbk/comlhdbk.pdfPage 2 of the motor vehicle handbook clearly states that a Class C (everyday joe type of...

    10 ton gallery

I had the opportunity to buy a beautiful 10 ton tractor that was just cherry, except for the fan belt that broke, wrapped around the fan blade bending it which tore up the radiator. Included with it was the parts to fix it, as well as a five ton wrecker bed complete. The guy was dying and needed...

    drop bed vs straight bed

Cons on the dropside, that tailgate is heavy!!!!!!! I'm a big guy, but that tailgate weighs a ton more than the standard fixed side.

    pinion brakes

Using a brake on the pinion gives you 26:1 more stopping power, the reason they used to be used on the monster trucks before they started using the ZF axles. Never heard about them causing pinion bearing failure, but, our axles got tore down so often they never had a chance to get hurt. I could...

    Those Yellow Headlights

I have some of the yellow lights for one of my projects. My understanding is they were made for use in Europe. They are older lights with the metal waterproof connectors on them. They're pretty hard to find. A guy offered me $50 a piece for them once!

    Snow run opportunity this weekend!

36 degrees here and I'm whining. I HATE COLD..guess working outside in Colorado 7 days a week for 6 years had something to do with that. I remember pouring concrete 17 below one time, way too cold but the contractor wanted it done so we made him sign a waiver. Got paid to remove and replace it...

    got the deuce registered.......

In CA, any peace officer can verify your VIN. Register it with Historic Vehicle plates and you don't need to get the weight verified. You DO need a class B license, no way around that one.
