Look for some Rockwells out of a FWD Tractioneer , they are the same design as military . But they are air over hydraulic to engage the posi and will have full air brakes .
It could also be a bad break line . I would start with filling with break fluid ( DOT5 if still mil-spec ) . Then find the the leak and acess repairs needed . This thread has part numbers for parts availibile at local parts stores Deuce Parts Quick Reference Spreadsheet
Build yourself a power...
There is a facebook page for Gentle Breezes Veteran's Retreat | Facebook
but the description is quite a bit smaller , from the facebook page ; Gentle Breezes is working to be a 501C3 non-profit. We are going to purchase 70 acres, have a main house with 15 cabins, where they can bring their family.
Heat on the shaft is a bad idea . I would try a breaker bar and a 6 pound sledge to get impact to break it free . Price out a new tranny then decide how much heat you want to put to it.
M1009 maximum towed load capacity is 1200 lbs
M332 empty weight 2800 lb (1270kg)
The brake system on the M332 is designed to be pulled with a deuce . You could chage the axle , but you would still be well over double the towing capcity of the truck with a empty trailer.
Get a M101A2 or A3...
There definately a issue with the brakes that needs to be addressed . Air in the system , rubber brake lines swelling , by passing in the master cylinder and a lot of other possibilities but as it is the truck is not safe for the road.
Well first off , if you don't want peoples opinions you shouldn't be posting on a internet forum . Second taking the fan off a 140 H.P. truck that weighs 14,000 pounds isn't going to make a difference .
Eliminating the fan won't make a noticable difference , the water pump is what pulls power not the fan blades . And removing the thermostat will have a negative impact.
If it is titled as "assembled" it should have a state of michigan vin tag rivited to somewhere . If it is 1978 AM General look for the vin numbers on the frame by the front spring mounts.
