I would get fuel someplace else and see if it makes a difference . How often does the station you buy at get their tanks filled ? Do you ever add Power Service or any fuel system cleaning additives ?
Hopefully this truck is lowboyed to the job sites , since you don't even know what it is , It is pretty safe to say it hasn't had the required maintence or a D.O.T. inspection.

You may have wiggle lines a few different ways to get the angle right . Just kinda hold the fitting to the threads and move the line a little till they catch , but screw in by hand . Don't cross-thread them .
It's not that it's wasting my time it's more of sorting though what your looking for . I'm sure there has been more than 1 part number posted depending on how it was done. Myself I don't see anything wrong with stock steering , but if I was to add power steering I would use a Saginaw steering...
