Started the day by taking her to the car wash, after about six sessions with the pressure washer she was as clean as I could get her.
I'll be using an angle grinder with a wire wheel attachment to knock down the rust and chipped paint.
Here are some before shots of the rusty areas.
Hey Fellas!
Well it's finally time, I start my 'partial restoration' today. My truck is really showing her age and is in dire need of a paint job. I have been researching the Behr paint jobs for the past two years and decided to give it a go. I already picked up my Wagner airless sprayer and...
Old thread, but it's funny that you bumped it because I'm just about to install that new style pump as well as a relay and switch like I had discussed.
Just so we're clear, are you saying you have no power at the stock pump or the inline pump?
Here are the night pics, sorry my phone doesn't take the best quality night pics but they are very bright.
I am happy with the way this build came out, the cool factor almost exceeds it's usefulness.
With the exception of an inline fuse yet to be installed, I now consider this project done...
Almost no interest... I guess there just aren't enough active New England members anymore.

At first I used clamps to hold the bracket in place as I drilled the 5/16 pilot holes but I later found out that the bracket moved and caused one of the holes to be out of alignment. Pretty simple fix, just reamed the hole on the...
Getting close to the opening date of the museum and still very little interest, I'll bump this one more time to see if anyone else wants to go. I would like to get onto their tour calendar asap.
Well my truck is still at a storage location where it has been all Winter so I haven't been able to do much to her other than grab some measurements here and there. I decided in the Fall that I would spend the winter collecting parts for my Spring projects.
If you end up with a bar that extends...
Here is the tool I built, it works by spinning the bolt with a ratchet.
It works really well and the nuts I bought are nearly flush when fully expanded.
I looked into that method, it works but the RivNut will spin at first as it begins to mushroom and can cause improper or cockeyed clamping. As noted they are pricey and I would rather get each one right the first time. Besides, it won't cost me a cent to build the tool. :grd:
Ordered my RivNuts from Fastenal today, don't have an installation tool but I'm going to make one like this.
