Pics of my rear electric winch install on the 5-ton

Slick setup. I could have used a setup like that many times hooking trailers. We had a water buffalo end up on its back end. Had to get it with an M548.

    Do you have any pics?

M35A2 starter and "5 ton" starter the same???

Park close to the shop on cold mornings if you leave it outside. The good thing is you could have a gas powered air compressor in the back instead of jumper cables. If this starter style is that common you'd think you could find a 12V version and do a complete conversion using a used starter...

What's the best way to wire a 12v winch into my 5-ton?

Won't running a 12V motor or starter on 24V make it spin faster? In a pinch I'll jump a 6V tractor with a 12V. They spin faster but heat up quick. If the winch turns faster the pulling capacity should be lower. If you aren't going to use it much I'd pull 12V off one of the normal batteries...

    Another one home safe!!!

I'd guess it was a mess truck and they folded the seats down to keep pots, pans, and food off the ground while they were in camp.

Might be looking to start over- built 3208T-deuce thoughts

RE: Re: RE: Might be looking to start over- built 3208T-deuc I'd go for the 5.9 but do the light truck versions have an SAE block? Not sure if the 9 spd would mate to it.

R6602 Gasser In A Bobbed Deuce???

If your not 100% set on keeping the original trans. Being a chevy guy that's what I like to work with but it doesn't matter. I'm thinking that finding an older school bus with a 366 big block gas and Allison AT545 would be a good fit. The AT 545 is a four speed auto but no overdrive. In...

R6602 Gasser In A Bobbed Deuce???

Are you trying to stay with an MV engine on purpose? If not I'd go for a more modern gas engine.

5 ton tractor with a deuce bed? Good idea or not?

I'll have to check my Army photo album for pics but I've spent many a night sleeping in the back of a dump on the troop seats. In bad weather it's great, especially if you have a coleman lantern for heat/light. If you can get the front tarp wrapped tight so air doesn't get by and turn it into...

5 ton gasser for sale near me

http://www.bohmanacres.com/bohman_acres1_009.htm Found this on Craig's list. I live about 10 miles away if anyone is seriously interested and needs a set of eyes on it. They also have a LARC for sale if you go to their main page.

M923A2 came home with me today!

RE: MORE PICS!! The last 5 ton I was assigned to was an M930A2. The 8.3's run good but I second the need to keep spare fuel filters. I will say with the tires aired down to the sand setting it will go almost anywhere. I'd put it up against a tracked vehicle anywhere. Just remember no...

YES, There IS (maybe) a Deuce Spin On Oil Filter Adapter

I'll be at the National Farm show in Louisville Feb 15-17. Give me more specifics on the Olive and White tractor models and years. There are a lot of parts dealers I can get info from.

YES, There IS (maybe) a Deuce Spin On Oil Filter Adapter

Has anyone ever called a Hercules distributor? I called the one in Duluth MN about a D4800 12VDC starter. I bet a distributor would know about the oil filters too. If someone lived close to a distributor and could drive a deuce to their shop I bet the question could be answered real quick.

    Cheap 5-ton tractors in VA

RE: Re: RE: Cheap 5-ton tractors in VA The M139 looks like it has a Fuller or Rockwell shifter in it. It's set way back against the seat. Doesn't look like a std 5 speed.

    Warm Starts On Cold Mornings

You need a bigger tank. The little ones get too cold. A 20 lb cylinder gives off enough vapor due to the increased volume. Or keep it inside. I've had to wrap a towel around the little tanks to keep it alive long enough to use the grill in sub zero temps.

    Warm Starts On Cold Mornings

Charcol works good too but hard to get a pan placed high enough of an MV. At first I thought you were going to say you use it as a giant air preheater directly into the intake!!!!!

    Cold weather starting

I'd go with 4 batteries parallel and series to get 24 volts. Considering you must have been close to -30 last night it's a lot easier to pull four car size batteries than two big ones if you wanted to keep them inside overnight.

    New Tire Setup on Deuce

I'd run a single 11x20 for a spare. Being the same diameter there's nothing wrong short term mixing fronts like that. It may pull a tad but beats investing in two spares.
