MI to MN will have extra M105 anybody need one?

RE: Re: RE: MI to MN will have extra M105 anybody need one? Why don't you stand two trailers up back to back, chain them then tow one upside down? Sounds easy but might be kinda tricky.

    Bellhousing issue

RE: Re: RE: Bellhousing issue I'm clear now. The way the article was written it wasn't clear all engines need the adaptor. If you have one we need to make a template of it. I have the resources to get quality ones done. Not that a steady hand and a plasma cutter couldn't work too.

    Bellhousing issue

Re: RE: Bellhousing issue I'm with you on the trans side being different. The next question is I thought all small blocks, std big blocks, and tall decks have the same bolt pattern. If that is true then the adaptor shown must be required on all chevys to mount this bell housing.

    Bellhousing issue

I'm confused. I've read the article and don't understand how a tall deck block would have a different bell housing connection. An SM 465 trans takes a bell housing with a 5 1/8" center hole which is larger than a std car trans. I get that the truck 5 speeds and 3035 trannies need the same...

MI to MN will have extra M105 anybody need one?

RE: Re: RE: MI to MN will have extra M105 anybody need one? I drill at Ripley but unfortunatley we don't have vehicles or any outside storage. Otherwise I could hook you up for a while. Right now I have a cab in my sandbox and the wife isn't all that impressed so keeping it near me is out...

RE: Salvage Anybody know anything about Erickson's in SW Minnesota? They advertise a lot of M35's for sale on the web.

    Deuce camper?

We built a camper on our of our twin axle bolster trailers. It was 8' wide, at least 12' long and 7' tall. We hauled everything in it so it wasn't high class but it was nice to be able to setup camp and still drive the truck around. We had a heater, cots, and a tarp off the side. Depending...

Just how big is an M35A3?

I've driven an A3 once. Good power but still a deuce. I haven't driven an FMTV so I can't compare. The best truck I've ever driven was an M930 dump. It would flat our go anywhere. A dump with a tarp is the best RV short of an RV!!!!

    Outbid by $10,000

Boy is this the WRONG time for me to get into this hobby!!!!!! I really wanted the deuce in Duluth MN. It went for $4700. I inspected it and it is worth 5K but $16.5K wow. Didn't someone get busted in Washington state smuggling dope across the Washington / British Columbia border a few years...

    440 Dodge w/727 Deuce

A manual trans is possible but way more work. The shifter has to come into the cab so that will in part dictate location. A hydraulic clutch solves one problem. My BB chev needs TLC but was balanced with a flywheel for a manual trans. I'd consider a 5 speed from a school bus or med truck...

    440 Dodge w/727 Deuce

RE: 440 Dodge w/727 Duece More pics and how much clearance did you have with the steering shaft? I've got a big block Chev under my bench just resting. From your last pic I guess there isn't a problem with clearance between a rear mounted distributor and the firewall!!!!!

    GMC Hydramatic

Different animal but I used to work for a company that made industrial wet clutches. We recommended either Dextron II or Type F. Most of our customers used Dextron II. When Dextron III came out we had an increase in failures. Turns out Dextron III has a lower hot coefficient of friction...

    Differences between 1950's 60's and 70's deuces

What are the main changes that would make a difference in looking for a deuce? Let's assume similar condition, rust, wear, etc. I already understand the following. gas vs diesel (non-turbo vs C vs D turbos) direct vs OD trans Sprag vs air shift T case Normally newer is better but if I find a...

Check out my new 5-ton!....errr 7.5-ton!

RE: Re: RE: Check out my new 5-ton! I saw them a few years ago at Ft. McCoy WI. Oshkosh must have been doing shake down runs there. Nothing like running tank trails all day looking for mud holes to hit.

Glow plugs vs. Ether on a CUCV

Glow plugs will recycle even after the engine is running. I'd disconnect the relay before doing this again. Since you don't live in the snow belt I'd first hold the accelerator to the floor while cranking before giving it any ether. Don't pump just hold.
