I've never had the problem myself, but a friend who's rebuilt a ton of winches told me about the winch lever detent bending and binding up. Once this happens it's supposed to be a real PITA to repair. I'll see if I can get him to post over here since he's been inside winches with this problem...
LOL. funny how fast you can go through that stuff, especially when you have your own motor pool<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve"> Idaho Motor Pool used to have tons of the silicone at a good price.
I'll have to find it, but somewhere online there is a pic of a deuce that is in some serious terrain all twisted up with all the tires still contacting the ground.
I don't even have the spring seat in my trucks, I don't like them as they push my legs into the steering wheel. My trucks ride great even off road..of course not as smooth as my five tons.
Some are welded, some are riveted. There's been a long going debate over which one is better. I have some of each on each truck, guess I could swap them around and have a set of reveted on one truck and welded on another LOL
Seen a lot of them like that coming out of Vandenberg AFB, they also had a box in the rear below the pintle to stow the cargo canvas when not in use. They had to be the cleanest deuces I ever saw!
when I lived in Colorado the heater with the soft top kept me nice and toasty down to about 10 degrees, below that it started to get pretty cold. Don't have to worry about that anymore, it's 10PM and 70 degrees outside.
Nothing, just the owner<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve"><img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve"><img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve">
That is true, 90% of the hard tops you see the top is caved in. One common thing is to see the GIs throw the camo net and packs and stuff on top of them and cave them in. I prefer the soft tops myself.
If you install a winch kit, always install all the bolts hand tight, then tighten them after everything is installed because 9/10 brackets are tweaked just enough to make stuff hard to line up.
