I use 2 interstate blems in my M818. As long as they stay fully charged and your trucks fuel system holds prime they work just fine. I think I have an air leak in mine and it has to crank for a little bit while I pump the primer pump and it will fire.

Even with a preview, without driving the truck out on the open road, no one would have seen this problem. GL is a gamble. If an a2 goes south on you, you can part it out and make most of your money back. If an a3 goes...
Thats the MWO for installing seat belts. ( easy mistake made by 1st time owners)
There might be some rubbing on the exhaust on the front with out a lift, or offset wheels.
why 383? Ok that was dumb, I know its personal preference, but why not something in a darker OD like from the late 60's early 70's. Weren't PT boats painted in that?
A2 and a3 are roughly the same. They extended the hood and raised the front end to make room for the new motor.
It would take more than a simple body lift. Like you said you would have to worry about the steering colum and the brake pedal and possibly the throttle. I dont know how the...
Alot of guys are running 395's on stock rims and I havent seen any posts about tires and rims coming apart...........YET.
The more that do it, to more the chance of seeing it happen. Would I run 395's on stock rims? Yes. Anything larger? No. Stock rims are just way to narrow to run anything...
Booger, which PTO do you have? http://www.steelsoldiers.com/700076-post15.html
If you have the 5Ton PTO it will not mount up. I just went out this morning to see if the deuce t-case PTO I picked up yesterday would mount to my 5ton. It will not fit. The 5ton pto is larger in both mounting...
Somehow I missed this part when I was reading the thread the other day.
1quikpony is correct. The 5ton transfercase is larger ( duh) I picked up a deuce T-case PTO yesterday and pulled the cover on the M818 this morning to see if it would fit. Everything on the 5ton is larger. The...
I just picked up (actually removed) a transfercase PTO off a deuce fire truck today. It has square shoulder dog clutch on both sides. The ramped one you have sounds like it is meant to spin in one direction only.
Sorry, Not much help
It came off a '53 gasser M530 fire truck. (I think M530 is right, I should have gotten a pic of the data plate on the door) I have read a few threads about fitting one to a 5ton. But no definitive answer. Guess I'll find out tomorrow when I pull the cover off the back of the M818's transfer...
Actually thats the way it should be done.
Go to the CUCV forum and do just that. Tell us how you got your truck and even though its a civy truck, you wanted to try to convert it...and so on. Mention that is "almost complete" you just need a front bumper and brushguard to finish the look...
I got the PTO and the c-turbo today, along with a few other items. 2 more double chain towing clamps without the chains, (couln't find them but Im sure they are buried there somewhere), 4 of the armor tow hooks with pins. (not sure if they are the right pins but they fit). 1 huge tow adapter...
