Old thread but new to me. The plunger motor on my M1009 must be replaced. Part number in the -20P TM is 14066255. Does anyone have one or maybe two for sale? Maybe NOS? Please let me know. Thanks.
The two batteries are connected parallel (12V) and not in series (24V). The 24V starter is replaced with a 12V starter. You just need one 12V alternator for this hacked up wiring. The 12V from the batteries go to the wiring block and from there to the glow plug relay. The resistor on the...
DAYCO PB1102N is always my choice. I rather spend some money in replacing the HB than worrying about a catastrophic failure that can occur every time and will give you and the truck a very hard and expensive time.
Some progress on the military markings. There are four layers of markings and I wanted to preserve all of them. Three are readable already and identify the unit the M1009 was in service.

German M1008 and Barrman are well experienced and they know what they are talking about. Do what they told you and never look back - your starter problem will be solved.
I cleaned the tailgate markings on mine the best I could. On the drivers side it was marked with four different unit markings during service. The second marking which was marked over twice says 708 B1 413. The drinker side says HHC 3 and above that B-1.
Looks great. Not many know that the bumpers and the grille was originally painted in green and not in three color camouflage. I myself didn’t know that. Did you think about adding authentic markings on the front bumper and tailgate? We thought about that already because you know where this M1009...
The paint job looks great. I can't see any overspray or painted seals. That is what a quality paint job should look like. The CARC looks awesome. Good job, Rick. Little camouflage riding hood.
Nice! Welcome to the club!
Check the harmonic balancer. The rubber probably is cracked. If it comes apart it causes a catastrophic engine failure.
Also check out the military TMs.
