I would think that he is refering to the GEN 1 light, which would relate to the drivers side alt., Mine does the same, I do not think anything is wrong.
I just replaced 1 head (new) and had the other resurfaced and valves redone. all new gaskets and replaced the intake manifold with one from a 6.2 HMM. Purchased from member gimpyrob.
Now its much smother and quieter, before almost could not hold a conversation.
I thought the 1009 shared the same controls as the 1008, which I have, and the hi/lo beams are controled by the directional control on left side of steering collum. If you only have high beams something is wrong.
My M1008 has a foam from the military, It helps keep the large debris/bugs out of the paper.
These engines starve for air. If it is a tight wool weave I would leave it off and find a foam one if off roading.
Mine had the same problem when I purchased it. Bolts broken, threads damaged, removed the broken bolts had the damaged threads repaired with aircraft grade helicoils.
Most likely the holes in the flex plate are elongated and you will have to replace it.
I have been looking at M1009's and was thinking that if I moved the rear seat up against the tail gate then add the two jump seats in the middle and there might be a narrow space between them to access the rear seat.
My flex plate bolts were loose and broken , made quite a racket. If yours are loose plan on replacing the flex plate because the holes will be egg shaped.
I purchased mine from a member in FL, don't remember his name, there were no pins but I had some 1" shafts that I cut to length and welded two thick washers on one end and drilled the other. Ground down the welds, and painted looks OEM.
I removed mine by myself with the aid of a fork lift with 6'extensions. I had to cut one bolt out of 8. Light connections, vent, ground wire Rt rear IIRC, filler screws.. I took it off to do the same as you want to. Replace the rubber fuel lines on top of the tank while you have the box off.
