Basically it's twice the 1A08 you are familiar with. I had one of the models with the electronic ignition and the sun on the elec box would shut it off. Other than the wrap and hope starter, they are great little engines. If one could retrofit a recoil starter, it would really help.
Odds are very good that you still have a ground issue. Bothbolt in each tail light nead clean grounds. Paint piercing washer work best if you have them.
A decently built 700 can handle anything a 6.2 can throw at it and so much more. 3.06 first gear and .70 overdrive make the 700 and the CUCV a match made in heaven.
I was just looking at some of the sites on line. Seems that the always show a pic of a 6tl. Trust me, a 4hn is 24V. The exact size battery in 12V is a 2hn. Call the local Deka or Interstate dealer to get a price. They were selling dry charged on ebay a while back for $155
That is a nice dry truck. Adding a winch and air shift are easy and can be reversed in the futurre if one wanted to. PTO is already there so why not? Wish I had the time and patience to keep and restore my M59.
Mike, you're slipping brother. The M59 had duals and the M47 had singles. Both featured a 2 1/2 yard bed (IIRC) but the M47 bed was skinnier with taller sides.
I had a couple of M59s. One sacrificed it's life for the other one which hndrsonj is currently restoring.
I use the Grimm Jeeper online gear calculator. Some report it's not always accurate. With stock 31" tires at 2500 RPM you are at 71 MPH. 3000= 85 MPH and 3500 would be 99 MPH.
Same conditions in a pickup truck with stock gears and tires would be 49, 59 and 69 MPH. Now, take the pickup and...
The transfer case is remote mounted to no problem using that. The transmission could be adapted but from an engineering point, the install of a mated engine and tranny would be easier and more cost effective. This can be accomplished with minimal mods and can be reversed later.
The price is right for sure. That adapter is for the 700R4 and the input gear sure looks like the 27 spline the 700R4 uses. The 400 turbo uses a 32 spline input shaft and the adapter has a 6 bolt pattern. You could pursue a 700R4 tranny as well.
