Poppop had a funny story about just this at the GA Rally this year. We'll have him tell the story again next year. It was quite a hoot.
In reference to the title of the thread, some folks hate the Prius too!
Might I offer a suggestion? These trailers don't do well without some tongue weight. Consider putting the spare if front of the axle using one of the little spare tire hoist thingys found on most junk yard trucks these days. I grabbed one off of a 1 ton GM van for a friend doing the same...
I would find the ugliest el cheapo vehicle I could find. Tag it and insure it then paint it a varity of flourescent colors in a camo pattern and maybe add on of those spinning roof vents and park it out front as close to the offending neighbor as possible. The way I see these things, the...
I've been known to do a piggyback or 2. My device used a fork design to fit right onto the square diff housing. Mine was all designed for deuce use! See avatar!
PS, my big trip was a little longer than yours, 2568 miles!
This is exactly what I have. I've toted it around for years with the HMMWV rolling stock but finally stripped them off before the GA Rally. What was already a great trailer is even better now with the reduced deck height and the reduced rolling mass.
68 was a huge year for the M101s. Jeta and Casemaster were very prevalent builders. How many holes in the bed? It was certainly a PU unit. Could have had one or two gensets in it. Check for a rectangular pattern of holes for the gensets. 2 sets = 2 gensets. FYI, there is a good market for...
Everything on my truck functions as it did when original. All 24V items are intact and functional with the exception of the GP resistor which does function but was bypassed for glowplug life. Roy's system is so basic, it's almost laughable but it's dead on dependable. You simply have 2 isolated...
When chevyc60 did the charging system on my 1010, he swapped both alts for 12V Leece Nevilles. These alts are very common on road trucks and have wide availibity. Since both are isolated ground alts the work in eithe place. Had my M1010 almost a year and it just took the trip to the GA Rally...
I'm going to agree with Swiss. Both of you have made your points repeatedly. Good info can be gleaned from both of you. Now lets agree to disagree. If you can't resist, at least take the measuring to PMs.
Here's what I would do ( have done). Instead of getting a glad hand air hose, just use a gladhand with a quick coupler directly attached to it. From there you can add any air hose. Sometimes you only need a few feet and dragging out 50' can be a pain. Second, get a 1" impact. You won't be...
The pump for the 208 transfer case is on the output shaft. With that in mind as long as the rear drive shaft is turning, the oil (ATF) will be pumping. Even with that said, I remove the shaft for for my peace of mind. Actually, with the M1008 I just remove the axle shafts. I't easy with an...
