Would it be easier to install an Arrow Craft dual wheel adapters set? Just asking. I installed a set on an M1028 plow truck when I put a salt spreader on back. It turned out as not so handy with the duals and the wider rear stance. I removed the kit and went back to singles. I was using the...
Imagine that. The 1984 one is the one I always prefer. It is easier then lining up the pin to nut. And I use a screw to get the block out. It is basically the same as a CUCV pickup with the 14 bolt cooperate axle. Easy as that. Have a Great Day.
Picked up a nice 12 ft stake body that will make a nice platform to stack fire wood on and cover. Was going to mount it on a cab chassis but decided against it after I seen the underside. Good thing it was a sealed bid and I never went to look at it. It will work. Now I must unload it. If I do...
Take it to a reputable transmission shop and have the vacuum valve properly adjusted. Last time I done it I spent $20. It was worth the money. More then likely you will need additional transmission work if you continue to run it in this condition. Sometimes $$$$ is the best tool. Second guessing...
My guess is bad spot on the contacts in the starter solenoid. I had it happen a few times. Recently on a salt spreader M1028. If the click is coming from the starter area the relay no matter what kind is doing it's job. I have the small plug in cube relays now and some with the stock relay. The...
I have been scrapping vehicles 40 years and building busses / truck bodies for 28 years. Never seen a fuel cap like it on anything else. We are now in the age of cap less fuel tanks. So I will side with the opinion that the military CUCV diesel program is the first and last to use these fill...
Now that you mention it the 2WD 1/2 ton back in the same vintage as the CUCV had 1/2" studs. They were 5 lug. And then back in the 60"s the 2WD and 4 WD 1/2 tons shared the same 6 lug wheels with 7/16" studs as everything that was 6 lug. Seems very logical to me. Now we are back to 6 lug again...
No Rustystud. It is an entirely different fuel cap. I had a few people switch the filler neck and go to the civilian cap just so they can put a locking cap on their CUCV. 1 guy did it just so he didn't have to buy a $50. gas cap. Made perfect sense to me. I don't plan on having my truck filled...
No I never did. I will just keep running it. I sit and think. What do I want to do? Take the cluster apart in my CUCV? Or just cut a split wood? The wood always wins out. I don't know why it still charges normal but it does. I will tear into it some day. maybe just sell the CUCV and move onto...
A few posed glamour shots of Crown of Thorns M1009. I have this truck a long time all the sheet metal is original. It has many beauty marks. Back to work. Break time is over. I did get back on the site at home again. Thank you to ADM. I was off since Christmas eve.
I am not sure where I left off on my 6TL battery switch. But I completed it last week. We have since had snow 2 times and I am dealing with slush and mud at the moment. The 6 TL batteries do NOT crank it as fast as the group 31 batteries but they have to do for now. I know a guy in NJ that likes...
Pull the bottom 10 amp fuse in the fuse box and done. That could be your problem if you have a voltage meter that stays on all the time. It has to have only ground thru the wire not the case. I see some that ground thru the voltmeter case. NOT good for the CUCV. Will stay on all the time. Too...
Out to do some wood cutting and splitting this afternoon. Old M1009 Terminus is limping with one odd tire on the left rear. I have someone going along to drive my Crown of Thorns M1009 to pull the trailer. Same old thing. Never gets boring. I love the heat and exercise of cutting wood. Have a...
Motor mount on left side will allow the stud of the exhaust manifold at the oil dipstick to chew into the upper frame flange. May I suggest Energy Suspension motor mounts? And the right side of the right will sink and rest on the fuel feed line. Causing a possible minor fuel leak and allow the...
